Crested gecko question

bekers71

What addiction?!
I will be getting a pair of crested geckos in March, male and female. What I want to know is, do they like to be handled? The woman we are getting them from has been breeding them for a long time. She says they don't mind being handled. But some one else told me that they really don't like to be handled. So do they just tolerate handling? We like to hold all of our animals and I don't want to get some thing we can't handle.

Becky,
We have a Crested Gecko named "Steve" and he is great. Doesn't mind being held at all. As a matter of fact the kids generally handle him on a regular basis. They are very easy to take care of and requirments are very simple. Here is the best, most informative care sheet I have found on Cresties.......

"Crested Gecko Care Sheet"

Hope this helps Becky.

Here is a couple of pictures of "Steve"

I only have one, but I think from what I've read pretty much like snakes, they tolerate being handled. I like their sticky feet and the tip of te tail is sticky. I'm always careful because if they loose their tail it doesn't grow back, they look really funny without it.

Steve is really cute Jay. :) The care sheet is really helpful.

Thanks Jay and Susan for the help. I can't wait to get these guys.

We found one of the Exo-Terra tanks at a local pet store for sale by the owner, $70. You know..the ones with the doors that swing out on the front and the top is a screen that you can put a heat light on. Any way, it's 18x18x24. Is that big enough?

That will be more then big enough. You could keep a breeding trio in that thing. "Steve" lives in an Exo-Terra tank as well. His is 12"x12"x18" and that is a bunch of room for him.
