Cross breeding?

I am looking for info about cross breeding cornsnakes with rat snakes???? Any info would be great, good or bad. I know that a lot of people have different opinions on this so let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Eric

I do it quite a bit, I dont see anything wrong with it. It is for the most part the same as breeding with corns you might just have to bait and switch if the female is picky.

The bait and switch is for those stubborn females, I have never had a male care what he was mounting. To bait and switch you simply place her with a male of the same species and wait and watch. When she finaly becomes receptive you pull the male before they lock up and place the intended male in. By then she wont care what it is. It doesnt always work out though, I left a female with a male mexican black and it must have turned violent after the mating. I saw them locked up and walked away only to find him very "girthy" 45 minutes later and no female. First time I actually had a snake eat another in 10+ years

IMHO, crossing corns with rat snakes has been done so often there is no point in doing it again.

well thanks for your imput master, maybe some people just want to do it because its more gratifying than say buying everything somebody else has done. Ever do anything for yourself? didnt think so. Like I also mentioned I do more extreme hybrids like the king and milksnake crossed to corns. Do what you will but stop flaming the ones that do what they do

Thanks for the backup

Thanks, i am simply wanting to try it to see how it goes and see what comes out. I obviously knew i wasnt going to become rich because i am the first one to do this....

whoa Oreo breathe a minute...we all know that hostility here isn't neccesary like other chat rooms and forums. I'm sure he didn't imply what you thought. I agree with you...I get more gratification producing my own hybrids too...but lets not turn this into a forum like so many others online that just have people talking crap to each other. The purpose of this forum is to help each other with problems, ask for advice, ask questions, share experiences, etc and to talk to people that share the same hobbies. I'm not trying to be insulting or offending but I just think this is one of the last forums on the web that people can go to for help or whatever and not have to worry about criticism or anything that like, and it be nice if we could all help to keep it that way. People are intitled to their own opinion, but remember that its merely an opinion. It doesn't mean that its fact, or that someone is wrong for not agreeing.

"Can't we all just get along????" :)

one of these days i might try to breed a leucistic black rat to a corn. haven't really decided yet.

I don't really understand that statement.
If you don't like or agree with hybrids or intergrades that is fine. Just say so.
Most of us understand the reasons of those who don't like them and also understand the reasons of those who do.

Corn snakes have been bred to each other so much, that by your statement, there is no point in doing that again either.

help me out here, I don't get the rationalization.
