20 eggs from a bloodred het ghost to a normal het snow are starting to hatch. The first few heads look suspiciously like bloods, although the mother is only known to be het snow. I'm guessing that they are going to have extreme bloodred markers (bald heads, belly stripe), but you never know about unknown hets! Pics will follow this weekend as they hatch.
 
Well, the smallest egg pipped, but the baby didn't make it. The egg was so tiny, less than half the size of a normal egg. The baby was tiny, of course, but very pretty, so that's too bad. I can't wait to see more pip!
 
This has been a curious clutch. The father, blood het ghost, has proven to be het amel, not anery. There are five eggs left to pip, but so far I have...

So, I'm happy with the amels, but I'm not so pleased that my het ghost is not het anery. I'm checking with the person I got him from, he may only be 66% het ghost, but I thought he was 100%. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

That would definitely be a big screw you from Murphy; not to get any anery A's...They're all het bloods tho, still pretty cool :*)
 
Considering you're working with a het matching up with a het, it doesn't surprise me at all. I had a Bloodred het Hypo Lav breed to a Normal het Bloodred/Lavender (similar to what you've got going on) and I got all Bloodreds and Normals. Zero Lavenders out of 16 eggs. I'd still be inclined to think he's het Ghost with Amel to boot! Especially if you picked him up from a reputable breeder.

I trust the breeder, Tom Thompson. I just don't remember now if the male's 100% or just 66% het ghost. Some of the babies sure have nice het markers: mostly bald heads and wide clear striped bellies. The dad is beautiful, so I'm not complaining to have a clutch of het bloods with a few amels thrown in! Especially since this was a "what the heck" pairing anyway, nothing well thought out in the first place. LOL
