Daytona Expo

RobbiesCornField

Bring it on.
Who's going to the NRBE show in Daytona this year? I'll be there for the first time ever! Just as a visitor this time, but hopefully I'll have a table next year (if everything goes according to plan). Would anyone be interested in meeting up?

We usually have a "cornsnake dinner" on Sat. night. Not sure who, if anyone, is organizing it this year. But if we do it, it will be announced on this forum, as well as on other forums. It is for anyone who is interested in corns.

i will be there...hopefully i can force, i mean o_o, convince my friends to come with me this year. ^_^

I'll be there with Katie. I'm sure Joe will be "with" us, but he goes through there like a whirlwind, so we just get glimpses of him. HOPEFULLY Dave123 will be there. You can hang out with us if you want. Plus, there will be lots more people from here.

I'm a Daytona Virgin as well this year! :dancer: Every year I have tried to get people to go with me and no one would be able to. So this year I said screw it I'm flying solo. I'm unbelievably stoked and everyone is making fun of me but I don't care. It's hard to make non reptile people understand what making this Pilgrimage to Reptile Mecca is like for me. I bought a bunch of "digital film" and I plan on uploading images daily to my forum for everyone who could not go. I hope to met everyone from the forum in person and many more. See you there Robbiescornfield! I'm counting the days....:wavey:

And even if you can't 'convince' them, you can come meet all of us!

Haha. I usually fly through the Rocky Mountain expo, finding what I think is the coolest, and then do another run through nice and slow.

I can understand what you mean. I always requested off for the Rocky Mountain expo at work, and every single time, they're like "What's a reptile expo?" I pretty much had to explain it as a car show, but with snakes and lizards. Then there was, of course, the question "So... how many snakes do you have?"

Lol, I'm a speed shopper... I plan my attack before the doors open, so with map in hand, I hit the tables I think have what I'm looking for, as well as friends. Then I do the whole lap, skipping tables that don't have what I'm looking for, then I do the lap again checking out everything... This year I'll be hitting up the ATB and Chondro tables... then off to find a nice Cherry Head...

I think this year I'll wear one of those flags you put on kids bikes so you can find me as I zip around.... :D

Aw, I was sort of shopping Cherry Heads last year. There was a pretty good selection. I think now, though, I'd go for a Russian. I didn't think I wanted a brumating tort, but after last winter went so well with the deserts, now I don't want to drag Cherry Heads inside every winter. CH would be perfect for your climate, though.

A group of us actually discussed making t shirts a few years ago. I thought it would be cute to have a picture of a corn sitting at a table with a napkin around his neck, ready to eat. Maybe there could be a cute, cartoony mouse on the plate, along with the veggies, and dessert, to kind of ham it up. Maybe with the words "Cornsnake Dinner Club" or something to that effect. We get together at most of the bigger expos, such as Chicago, Daytona, and others. So we wouldn't want it to be for just one show. Some of us overlap and go to more than one show. And people from several forums come sometimes, so wouldn't want just one forum name either.

But we just never got around to doing it. Maybe someday...

Gonna try and make it this year. Last time was in 2003. I even made it on the video that Bill Love shot. Had several people tell me that anyway. Have never seen it myself. I was one of the first ones in line, sitting on the steps waiting to get in. I get to see Bill and Kathy every year at Tinley as well as a few others that make the treck to Illinois. This will probably be the last year that my twin sons get to go to Daytona as they will be in college next year in late August. Hope to see many of you this year.

As for Cherry Heads...look for Joe Terry's table. He has some Stunning examples, as does Doug Beard. Looking to acquire some new additions for our group as well. Have two nice captive hatched Female Paraguayan Cherry heads that came from Chris and Sheila McQuade at Gulf Coast Reptiles. One is 11 years old and the other is 12. We raised them both from hatchlings. Trying to locate a mate for these special girls. Will also be in the market for some nice corns, bullsnake morphs, lined Pinesnakes, various other pits, Hondo morphs, Western Hogs, Emoryi Morphs (KJ's table will be getting a visit from me), Some high end cal king morphs, and also looking for Uroplatus lineatus. Hope to see you all in a couple months...Budget permitting that is.

Take care,
Jeff Port

Louise and i will be at our usual tables(409-410).
That will be just a few tables down from Jeff Mohr.
Looking forward to the Cornsnake dinner.
See you guys there,Rob

I get in Saturday around 11:00am and fly out Sunday around 1:00pm. Looking forward to meeting and having dinner with all of you. I'll probably use Joe's approach, study the table chart and hit "priority" tables 1st then take my time and look around.

Here's what I'll be interested in seeing. Pied-sided Bloods, Sulfurs, Sunkissed Lavs, just to name a few.......
