In all fairness, the information of what the first dinner was called can be found within this site.Drizzt80 said:because "the originators of the name" (so to speak) choose NOT to come here to discuss it . . . THAT's not a """community""" of corn snake keepers which is what the T-shirt is supposed to represent . . . ??

MohrSnakes said:Maybe the shirt should say:
"Cornsnake dinner sponsored by MohrSnakes"
and on the back...
"Vote MohrSnakes for 2008 Moderator Race"

Even if said keepers were to come here and discuss it, it's already been laid out that they won't be listened to and the name just isn't up for discussion so...... I wonder why they haven't shown?
I believe a lot of members are here and do read, and will post if they felt it would be benificial. However, why post an opinion on something that has already been shot down?
I think it's great that Stef stepped up to the plate too. I for one DO want to hear what you have to say about the t-shirt... including the content you would like to see on it and your vote in a poll including yours and any other proposed text or content. I think that's a pretty fair way of getting everyones input don't you?:shrugs:Drizzt80 said:I will most likely not be able to get to Daytona this year, but am always planning to find a way whether this year or next. Does that mean I can't comment or vote on the T-shirt? Personally I applaud Stef for stepping up to the plate on this, and worst case, I'll at least look forward to seeing pictures in August!
I wanted this to be fun too. We, Lara and I, had such a great time at the get together last year. Making a t-shirt for the event had actually been discussed last year at the dinner and we had mentioned how it would be nice if we could make a t-shirt the next year. That's why I brought it up. Comments like this aren't any fun for the people who suggest them though:I too have heard from many people privately about this whole thing, and in fact this post in particular has raised hackles in a few. I want this to be as smooth as possible, but already I'm hearing things privately. I am not complaining about the private emails/pms, but this is supposed to be FUN...Let's please, please keep it that way.
Stephanie... do you really want everyone's input on the shirt or do you only want everyone's input on the things that you come up with? Please don't take this as an attack. I sincerely would like to know so myself and everyone else, can either give you input on what we would like to see on the shirt, including your ideas, and have it voted on or we can vote solely on what you come up with. If everyone knows up front then there's no hurt feelings over the deal. :cheers:blckkat said:I'm sorry, but I can't stand that name. I will not be adding that to the list.

Drizzt80 said:Sooooo, . . . regarding Stef's comment concerning the Corn Snake Supper Club name . . . Nobody here has put their hard work and effort into something and then had someone(s) come along and tell you it was done wrong, or should have been done this way, or it's the wrong color, AND maybe you even had to hear it 3rd or 4th person . . . ?? I only ask because it's a pretty crappy feeling . . . especially when your intention is for FUN and recognition of the community . . . :shrugs: Think about that for a second and then tell me with a straight face that you can fault her reaction . . .

Yes... I have had plenty of ideas shot down. Who can honestly say they haven't unless they simply don't put any ideas out there for public opinion. If my idea is for something (snake rack) that only concerns me I'll take everyone's opinion into account and ultimately do what ever I feel is best. If my idea is for a community t-shirt then the community should decide what's best. I'm assuming no offense was taken when the shirt color was suggested to be changed. :shrugs: Why is the wording such a big deal? That's why I posed the question. I just wanted to clarify if the community was voting on community ideas or just Stephanie's ideas. I'll probably purchase a t-shirt either way because I enjoy the cornsnake community as a whole.Drizzt80 said:Sooooo, . . . regarding Stef's comment concerning the Corn Snake Supper Club name . . . Roy Munson said:I probably would have designed the shirt the way I wanted it, and simply taken orders for those interested. But I guess Stephanie is more community-minded and fun-seeking than I am, so she offered options (of which "other" was not a choice). In these matters I'm a jerk, and I would have wanted complete creative control (*slams fist on table*).
She can't stand the name. She even apologized in advance. Was she too harsh in her dismissiveness? I don't know. But I don't think she was rude. To be honest, I like "Corn Snake Supper Club" best, but it wasn't an option in this poll. :shrugs:

Hey it happens all the time, here on the boards, in the working world, and in personal relationships.Drizzt80 said:Sooooo, . . . regarding Stef's comment concerning the Corn Snake Supper Club name . . . It may be a crappy feeling initially, but if one is too "married" to an idea that is in the minority, and they can't let it go, please refer to my previous summation in the prior quote.I only ask because it's a pretty crappy feeling . . . especially when your intention is for FUN and recognition of the community . . .
While I applaud Steph's initiative and desire in this project, if she refuses to allow an entry or idea because she personally doesn't like it, I have the straightest of faces.Think about that for a second and then tell me with a straight face that you can fault her reaction . . .
Please refer to the aforementioned Kat Hall reference. And, of course, if they don't like what you eventually come up with, they can always make their own! :grin01:
I hold the personal opinion that, given the variety of options available to me, the cornsnake "community" is better than ever. Do you prefer monopolies over the free market? :shrugs:. . . then we'll see how much of a corn snake community we truly still have!
