Dilute Project is up and Running!

False Prophet
Ok, so I have this '06 pair of Dilutes from Rob, (Bayou), and I also picked up some possible hets from Susan, (Willis Wildlife), from the photography contest, giving me some great animals to work with. Thanks guys!
I was thinking that just breeding Dilutes to make more Dilutes, isn't thinking very big. I needed some great ideas to take this gene to new places. I'm not going to share those of course, but I will share the base of the projects, including pics :D

Azure, 0.1 '06 Anery Dilute Motley

Indigo, 1.0 '06 Anery Dilute Motley

Ok, now this is where it gets interesting, with the pick ups from Susan...
I have big plans for these two when they grow up...
Vail, 0.1 '07 Snow, p/h Dilute, Hypo, &/or Stripe
2007_0827Snow40018.jpg

Anomaly, 1.0 '07 Ghost, p/h Dilute, Stripe, &/or Amel
2007_0827Ghost40026.jpg

Now, onto the next pair from Susan, and to complete this trio, a favorite of mine from Joe Pierce, just to make things a little more interesting... One of the projects I don't mind sharing...

1.0 '07 Normal, het Ghost Motley, p/h Dilute, Bloodred, Caramel, &/or Amel
2007_0827MaleHet40022.jpg

0.1 '07 Normal, het Ghost Motley, p/h Dilute, Bloodred, Caramel, &/or Amel
2007_082FemHet40010.jpg

Uma, 0.1 '06 Normal, het Lavender Motley, p/h Caramel, Ultra &/or Amel
2007_0830Uma0019.jpg

Phenotypes would be...
864/2048 Normal
288/2048 Ultramel
288/2048 Caramel
96/2048 Ultramel, Caramel
288/2048 Motley
96/2048 Ultramel, Motley
96/2048 Caramel, Motley
32/2048 Ultramel, Caramel, Motley

And if all the hets prove out? 20 pages of Genotypes.... :bang:

My head is spinning...I love Vail the most! Then Indigo. That is the most sensible comment I can make, other than go hets!

Nanci

Ya, I will repeat the 'head spinning' comment from Nanci...........

I shall 'think on this', meanwhile.........my favourites are:

Anomaly - what a beauty.

Closely followed by Vail - such a stunner.

Excellent breeding stock there. Good Luck with them.

Lol, I just wish Indigo and Azure didn't develop so much yellow, but the blue tint with the pink makes it bearable, :D

As I was scrolling... and scrolling... through the list, I couldn't help but wonder what an Ultramel Dilute Lavender, Bloodred, Ghost Motley would look like... Maybe that white sided, blue snake I'm looking for.... :shrugs:

Dilute diffuse ghost motley. Should be a fantastic pale pastel.

Add lavender and you've created the perfect corn -

I agree that a few stacked Hypos and some Lavender will intensify the pastel look, and we'll probably see those in the near future, perhaps even before these are old enough breed... How about a.... psych! I'm not telling... :grin01:

Cool! Another Dilute fan that will be working with them.:)

These (Your) snakes are Beautifiul!

Of course, I do not know what your plans are but ... I wish you luck, with your project, and hope to see your results.:)

Thanks, but I have to give credit to Susan, Rob, and Louise for these wonderful snakes, but I'll be hatching my own soon enough :grin01:
I pretty much want to focus on just a handful of morphs, and Dilute was in the top two. I love the fact that not too many people are working with it, and there is still a lot that can be done...

beautiful all off them,
but what is Dilute diffuse ??
Exactly.... :grin01:

Oh, Diffuse is another name for Bloodred, so a Dilute Bloodred... Imagine the first two snakes pictured with a really washed out side pattern... er, lack of side pattern... like this...

Good reason to buy a new Cornsnake Morph Guide every year! (and all the following informaiton is from that book by Charles Pritzel) Diffused originallly appeared in bloodreds. Diffused/diffusion is used to describe the pattern trait separately from the selectively bred color morph, bloodred.

Diffusion produces three main effects on the pattern:

The belly is wiped clear of checkers. There may be some black specks or freckles.

The head pattern is often stretched, and the top of the head can have a "skull" type pattern on it, or be stretched so far that there is no observable pattern on the head.

The pattern on the side of the body can be practically normal, or almost completely blurred out. The more diffused/blurred side patterns are usually more desireable.

Diffusion is a Mendelian pattern trait, but its expression is highly variable and it isn't always recessive. The best description ...would be variable dominant, but it is generally treated as recessive for most practical purposes.

(There is a lot more about diffuse in Charles' book)

Rob & Louise are "good people" in my book ... and they have some really nice snakes too.
Susan seems to as well.:)

Sshhhhhhh ... We don't want everyone else to get any ideas. ;) :grin01:

Yes, not a lot of folks are seriously working on/with them ... although Dilutes (&/or Dilute hets) are out there (along with some folks, perhaps, not realizing what they may have).

I truly like, and have an interest in, the Dilutes and, like you, look forward to working on some plans with them.

Now I am, also, looking forward to seeing what you may produce.:)

like an ameldiffuse(bloodred)

never knew there was one,and comes out yearly ?

Count me in as an overseas dilute project leader :) I have normals and amels from my blue motley x amel breeding to start with! My snow motley lady did not yet lay eggs from the blue motley male unfurtunately, neither did my butter..... :(

They're looking good Joe! And I have you on my list for quite a few things this year, including a surprise or two!

Lol, I saw this pop up in my email, and went, "oooooooh, I wonder what Susan is up to now", then realized it was my thread from last year, Doh! I've persued some complimentary acquisitions since then, and yet again rearranged possible pairings to include Sunkissed, Lava, and Ultra genes.... I really should take some update shots soon as they look so tiny in those pics... The Dilutes are HUGE, and will be ready next year for sure, and the Snow has turned me from thinking they are "ok", to "Wow I can't believe how much I really like this Morph!"

At least I still get to say, "oooooooh, I wonder what Susan is up to now" :D
