She's still on Hoppers but she just hit the 100g mark!! The only store around me that sells feeders goes straight from Hoppers to adult mice though so I'm not sure what I'm going to do from here

Nicole

If there is a PetsMart near you, they sell the "Arctic Mice" brand packaged as small, medium, large and jumbo. The small are actually Hopper sized and weigh around 7 to 10 grams each. The next size up, Medium, are what I would call large hoppers or small adults and they weigh about 11 to 15 grams, and finally the Large are actually adult mice that weigh about 17 to 21 grams each. The Jumbos are the ones that weigh about 24 to 30 grams. I have fed Rufus all of them with the exception of the Jumbos, he currently on the Large.

Smalls are in 6 count boxes, mediums in 4. You can find them in the frozen food area, usually by fish. You can also order 25 packs of smalls and 50 packs of mediums online, but it's pretty expensive. Personally I prefer to order bulk from Layne Labs.

I'll have to look into bulk because honestly I'm spending way more for feeders right now then I ever used to because I'm having to go to a personally owned pet store!! Thanks for the info it's a huge help!!

There are several companies that sell 'feeder' items, whether mice, pinkies or insects. I get mine from 'Perfect Prey'. It's a good company and you get everything sent to you in dry ice, brick solid.

Rats are a good snake food source. There will always be a debate over this though! I see nothing wrong with feeding them to your corn snakes. (click on 'rats'!)

So nutritionally what is better, mice or rats?

I got home today and she had shed, I don't understand how I keep missing this but it makes me nervous!! I'm so lucky this didn't make her regurge!!

Nicole

Don't worry about missing the shed. We've all done that. It's really not a big deal as some folks would make you think it is. Your snake is growing, active and healthy. you're a good snake mom.

Not sure if there's anyway to prove which is more nutritious, both rats and mice are basicly made up of the same compounds. Rats just tend to be more muscular, therefore more protein rich?
Either way if your snake is gaining weight and shedding normally I wouldn't stress too much over it :)
She's beautiful btw!

Lol the flosser, I was like what does he mean lol. She's always been such a good eater but it's so hard to tell when she's in blue!! She really only gets "dull" in color for like a day and then looks completely normal!! I'll get some new pics of her new digs tomorrow!!
