disturbing cobra video

Yea, that's messed up! I'm hoping they took the fangs out or something, because it looks like it bites the baby several times.

Either way...still not good. :angry01:

People are effin' stupid...aren't they?

All I can think is that maybe its been defanged as no one appears the least bit worried. ( Can you defang a cobra?)

It has to be toothless, or else that baby wouldn't just be sitting there. Not just fangless, toothless.

It's so disgusting what people do. Don't quote me on this, but I think snake "charmers" scrape the teeth out of the snakes they "work" with. That's what I think is going on here.

This is a fairly old video...

That snake is either completely without teeth, which would require removal everytime they re-grow, I believe, or has it's mouth somehow secured shut. That baby would not be reacting in that manner if the snake was capable of biting, in my opinion. Even without fangs, the teeth are still sharp and would cause some pain and most likely bleeding...

This is why I prefer the company of serpents to that of people...:nope:

They are as common as house flys there so they are a cheap commodity....
The stiches are removed for feeding and if the snake suffers ill health they get a new one..... These people need to make a living, and tourists give the income..... They don't see snakes like we do, thats a luxury that we are able to afford.

That's true, Mike, but I can wish we lived in a better world than that!

Yes, it is horrifying. But is it really much more disgraceful or disgusting than what the typical reaction to a rattlesnake is by the uneducated dregs of society living in the U.S.?

Yes, it's deplorable. But at least the snakes are given the opportunity to live, rather than intentioanll run over by a huge 4WD pickup or hit with a shovel to the cheers of "YEEHAW!!"...

And Rattle snake round ups spring to mind as well.....
But it goes further than that....
Most people don't realise that sitting on an alligators back and holding it's tied up head back is enough stress to kill the animal in a few minutes.....
Yet I have seen members on here post pics of them selves doing just that at animal parks....
They are killing a beautiful animal and are ignorant of the fact.....
So it's everywhere...... Even the animal lovers join in if the don't realise.

No, it's not worse. And it's better than running over a rattler for no good reason. I just think both are pretty deplorable.

I remember my dad ~trying~ to explain to my mom, "It's just a baby cottonmouth. I'll just scoop it up and dump it back in the swamp [across the street] where it belongs," while he has this baby cottonmouth on an improvised snake hook (big piece of wire bent to serve the purpose). So I guess I never really got the hatred for hots that many people have.

I had trouble watching mouth sewn shut or not. That snake still could have strangled that baby:(

Not likely. That snake would have absolutely no instinctual reaction to strangle, constrict or attempt to crush either as a means of defense or prey neutralization. It just isn't in it's instincts. It's doing exactly what it instinctually should be doing. TYrouble is it has been meutralized of it's only real defense.

It's definitely hitting that baby. You can see the snake is attempting to hit and inject venom by the way it is pausing as it makes contact with the baby's head. It is definitely trying to kill that baby...it just can't...

Its still a babies immature neck which can be broken too easily for my likes. I know they aren't constrictors, but that poor snake whipped around her neck pretty furiously:)

Its at an Indian festival, so they would have defanged the snakes. It is messed up, but there are efforts to try to convince them to milk the snakes instead of defanging them, so they can be used to make anti-venom.

Wouldn't the mouth be open if it was defanged?
Thats why I said sewn shut.... It doesn't make a proper attack, just the strike...

So what happens if the guy in charge of sewing that day does a poor job of sewing, ...ouch...

"Better be sure..." hehe
