Do you ever feel guilty for wanting another?

You got 6 snakes in a little over a year! I'd say that's as supportive as one can ask for from a spouse who isn't into snakes! You can't make him love them or say is ok with another when he isn't. He's left it up to you. Seems to me that you just want him to be more enthusiastic so you don't feel guilty. Well, that may be too much to ask. ;)
So, you just have to decide whether you want to get another with your self imposed guilt or not.
Personally, and I'm in a totally different situation so take it with a grain of salt, but is enjoy the snakes I had and not make waves....well, that's actually what I am doing! :) and my hubby has limited me to one! But its cool. It's snakes. It's a pet. It's a hobby. It's not a major deal to me one way or the other. But different people are different. :)

Yeah you are right, and it's not really a big deal. Just trying to work through the feelings. He is happy to lavish me with things that interest him, such as an expensive new bow (when I start shooting the one I have at 40 pounds) or whatever, but it's hard when I feel like he thinks I am a freak at times for having this hobby.

The past 2 years have been tough and the snakes have been a major stress relief, so I am grateful to have what I do.

There are some really good posts here, and they have given me food for thought. I've acquired 4 corns in the past year, and I have 6 cats. I found I didn't know when I was going overboard until I had already done it. Some of my cats are aging now, which means time and cost to care for go up.

I would also suggest waiting. Splitting the pinks is economical only in the very short term.

There are two questions stopping me from getting more snakes at this time. I expect that anything I bring in is here for it's lifetime. While I have time, energy and money for the ones I have now, might change over the next 10-20 years? Can I be satisfied with spending more time with the ones I already have?

I do expect I will get another snake or three over time, but for now I have hit pause.

Casey

i acquired 33 snakes in two years so i can't say anything about anyone having too many or too few, lol

I do think the OP knows what she is getting into and it sounds like she has a good understanding of what her limit is. This is a very good thing to know because some don't and get star struck by all the pretty colors and choices. Now I recommend waiting. I mostly meant don't go out and buy one today. Waiting could be a few weeks to a few months to a few years. I think it is different for everybody.

I just see holding off as a good thing all the way around. Gives they hubby some time to adjust. I know if I keep telling my husband I want something and showing him a picture it is just a matter of time before he asks "who has one available?" just to get me to shut up. It also gives the OP time to find the perfect snake of what she is looking for. Nothing like diving in and buying a snake of the morph you want and finding one that you like better right after you buy the other one.

I just don't want the OP to feel overwhelmed and think she really is the crazy snake lady because snake people are saying hold off. I want her to understand that as we maybe the worst SA group (snake anonymous) and push people to get more snakes we don't want to encourage it to the point that we push them overboard.

I think I am responsible for a 3rd of his snakes. So I am responsible for pausing him over the limit.

Very well said Christen.

Nothing like diving in and buying a snake of the morph you want and finding one that you like better right after you buy the other one.

As much as I love my little Henry, I wish I had waited out for a reverse okeetee or fluorescent instead of buying an amel with what I thought was large borders.

I'm glad I don't have anyone, anymore, to make me feel guilty about anything I want. I'm not saying one person in a relationship should be able to spend all the money on just their one thing, or all the time, but also, one person shouldn't be able to say "You have too many ____________, I don't want you to have any more," or "I don't like it when you spend too much time doing ___________."

My adult snow female. Even when she was at the pet store, people would really come around when she was out. She's very easy going and curious.

That was my guess - I think there is something soothing about the color in addition to personality traits.

I've got over 30 now and venomous as well. My hubby has learned that it's just something I love and deals with it. My friends think I'm crazy and the people I worked with thought I was completely out of my mind....but...they are the ones that come over to see the snakes, I'm the one they call to ID them and everything else. I personally could care less if people think I'm crazy for having a passion for something that not everyone likes. If it's really going to cause conflict in your spouse though, no, I wouldn't do it....

I am fortunate to have a s/o that shares the same interests that I do. I would have several more snakes if I had the room for them (small house). I WILL have my bloodred and blizzard some day...those are my two favorite morphs and the original two that I started out wanting.
