It's Jager time!
... to photograph fishies?! It's very hard... and I wondered why I didn't really have any shots of my goldies. Then I remembered as I tried to manually focus with a macro lens on very fast moving objects.

Heres Splish, the shubunkin.

I can't remember how long I have had them... a year or so perhaps? Both are around 6-7in now, compared to 3in when I bought them.

Beautiful! I didn't realize you kept fish as well. I've never kept golds. What size tank are they in? Are you going to have to upgrade? That's what I'm afraid of with them. My largest tank is a 60, but I'd want to have a dozen of them! They're really pretty. You keep anything else?

Yup I has splishies! I keep them in a 60lt at the moment which is too small. Upgrading to a 3ft tank in the near future. Thats the problem with goldies, they need tooo much space. I only have the goldies at the moment. I started setting up a saltie tank then gave up. Its just too much work, too much money and I don't have enough knowledge about keeping fish for that sort of thing.

They require a HUGE amount of space. I don't have a spare space in my home for a gold tank, so I live vicariously through other people who own them.

I just emptied a bunch of tanks so now I'm down to six. I did some research on salt, but you're right, waaaay to much money for what I'd like to have.

I honestly think I have already stunted their growth the last few months by not moving them up to a bigger tank sooner. But lets face it, how many pet shop goldies do you actually think live longer than a year in the care of a 5 year old nevermind actually achieveing their full potential size ;) I think mine are doing just fine lol.

I remember telling you 60lt was too small last year :p lol
Glad they're still doing well and that you're moving them up.

And yes its damned hard to photograph fish.
If you don't mind my sharing one of my betta shots...

Thats a gorgeous shot!

When I first got them they were in a 24lt, and have since been moved to the 60ltr. I cant cope with measurements in water LOL. I dont know what 3x2x1 is in ltrs? but thats what they are moving into :)

If I put the measurements in the correct order hah! It's about 170lt and about 45 gallons which is damned good for the two of them! :D

Really? Oh thats a relief. Because I couldn't fit a bigger tank in anywhere anyways lol. Thanks for confirming that Jenn :)

Oh no way man... 2 goldies is enough work! They are such messy stinky fish. I do a 50% water change every week and find it hard to keep up with sometimes.

Awww they are absolutely beautiful! I have a hard enough time holding baby snakes still to get pictures. Can't imagine fish. LOL

Great shot of your betta, Corny! It's nice to see so many fishkeepers here as well as snake geeks. ;)

Photographing fish is an exercise in both excess and patience.

Here's one of my piranhas when they were still babies:

And then again, two years old, just before I gave them away. :(

I haven't got any photographs of the fish I have now and I want to get rid of the aquarium altogether anyway. :p Still, I miss my piranhas.

Very hard! These are the best shots I have gotten of my fishie babies. They are about 2 years old, the betta is 4.

Elle, you need not worry, because your shots are awesome anyway. Shooting through glass is always a pain, and I think you've done quite nicely. :)
