My client I was supposed to work for today canceled on me so I went out to West Eugene wetlands (featured in a couple of my previous photo threads) and took pics instead...
My good deed for the day was to rescue this dragonfly from the lake...

I saw lots of dragonflies, but they are hard to photograph. I was able to pick the spotted one up, but the green one had to be snuck up on...

I found a swarm of bees in the bushes! I didn't dare to get real close so this is the best I could do. I guess they like the blackberry flowers.

And speaking of flowers, here's a pink wild rose, a white one, blackberry blooms, a field bindweed morning glory, and a purple thing I don't know the name of.

Nice photos! They bees are scary though, I can't imagine getting so close to one. Whenever I look at one I remember myself of the horrid allergic reaction I had when I was younger.. lol
But the dragonflies are really pretty! I wish we had some around here, they eat mosquitos and flies and other small insects which is well good.

Hey! That bee swarm picture is cool. I think they must have been "swarming," which is when the colony gets big enough to split, produces a new queen, the old queen moves out with a bunch of workers to find a new home, and the new queen stays behind in the old home with a bunch of the workers. I've never seen it, though! I think KJUN would know; isn't it him who is the forum beekeeper?

LOL I actually thought of KJUN as soon as I saw them. I know if it had been a residential area there are plenty of beekeepers around here that would have offered to come and get them!
I'm allergic myself, only got close enough to use the zoom feature and probably not the brightest move on my part.

I always have the best intentions to make blackberry jam out of them but they never make it to that stage, they are just too good!
