Eggies ^_^

Carusima

New Breeder
Well I'm on SouthTexasReptiles.com and they've been helping me out, but I want to get more exact help on my corns.

Lenore FINALLY started laying her eggs today ^_^ She laid 1 a few hours ago and it looks like there is 6 more in her.
She is an Amel orange corn, almost 2 years but big for her age, and Johnny, her mate, is a normal corn, almost 2 years.

I'm so excited ^__^ It's my first clutch! Hopefully she'll be alright when all this is done and her eggs are fertile.

How long does it take for a girl to lay her eggs? She should have only 6 more.

This is all I could get from her right now without disturbing her.

Has she got a moist substrate to lay in? It looks pretty dry in the picture, but it's hard to see too. If she hasn't had a lay box, that could be why she took a while.. How much does she weigh?

When I checked yesterday while she was wandering it was a little dry so I sprayed it down and rotated it, it should still be damp in spots. I want to spray it down more but I don't want to disturb her. She doesn't have a box, but she has that container that she's been going into and making her area to lay the eggs.

I really don't know her weight. She's pretty big though. This is Johnny, her mate, and she's the same size.

Oh sorry, it's hard to see. She's in a 20 gallon tank with that plastic container in that is humid and moist for her. It's just big enough to fit her and a half, that way she has room for the eggs.

Ah hah! We found the problem. I took her in to get her checked out, and they almost needed to do surgery on her. They pushed out a little over 2 inch long thick egg tangled up in the sack. She couldn't push it out on her own. Oh she hated that. Then I checked on her this morning and she had laid the rest of her eggs all nice and neat in a pile. The huge one is a creamy white and the rest (i haven't removed them yet because I want to make sure she's done) are a nice white, compared to the first 3 that were yellow. I see why now she was having complications.

x_x Well that was hectic. The guy said that is that big one actually is fertile, it's gonna be a big baby, but he doesn't think it will be because it's an offwhite and still too soft.
Oh well, I'm happy now..

She's going to be kept seperate from Johnny for almost another year, until she's big enough.
Uh, back in my hometown the guy said it was fine to keep them together, and they were my first snakes so I didn't know better. I was going to get them their own cages in Sep since that's when she'll be about 2, but this came too soon.
I know better now, and I hope she comes out of all this alright.

She just didn't want me to touch her eggs o_o; She kept smacking my hand with her body.
So totally, she laid 3 in the beginning early on and they were slugs, the 4th was the huge one and it's a creamy white, then she dropped 4 last night. One more big one (but not as big as the last) which looks good, then 2 of the other3 look fine, and one is 3/4 white and 1/4 yellow. They're all in their incubator under a blanket until I can get my fiancee to move the Japanese screen blocking where they'll go to keep nice and warm and humid.
