I have had Elliot for a few weeks now. He ate live pinkies at his breeder's, but the breeder was sure he would take f/t for me. First time was 4 days after he arrived, and he ate it when I set it next to him in his bin. Second time was a little harder. He didn't eat it when I just set it in the bin, so I put him in the deli cup for the evening with a mouse, and it took awhile but he ate it. Third time was a few days ago and he slept with it all night without eating it.
I was going to try in the next few days, and today worked out because I had warmed a small pinkie up for Sherlock, but he is blue, so I decided not to offer it to him. The breeder suggested offering the pinkie on tongs this time, and that he would surely go for it. Well ... he rattled, hissed, struck near the pinkie (never really AT it), but it was mostly a big show because he didn't actually eat it! I left it in the bin with him. I'm not optimistic ... but maybe. I replaced his fake greenery and hopefully under the cover of all that he'll find it again and eat.
It was cute because he would climb up the side of the bin and come right to me, and he didn't have any attitude with me. Only when the pinkie was in his face did he get fierce!
