Emperor Scorpions

Pet Corn Snake

New member
Emperor Scorpion, This is what i want to get with some of my birthday cash in April, would someone please tell me if they have one, and if there good to handle, i don't mind there tail stinging and claw nipping :/ please could someone let me know :p

honestly i don't suggest handling any scorpion
but
if you must
an emperor would be the wisest choice

the likelihood of being stung is extremely slim. most of the time they don't even sting their prey. they let their massive chela (claws) do all the work (which are strong enough to draw blood if they were to pinch!).

I have kept them and hated them. Interesting as they are, the crickets just did my head in. Plus during the winter you rarley see them.

I didn't enjoy keeping them.

Don't get me wrong they were very fascinating. But I had mine from sub adults and i would have prefered to see them grow up. Unfortunatley i only had them 10 months as i just didn't like them. They were calm and never agressive although they can move extremely fast and that freaked the hell out of me. Being an arachophobic they were not exactly the best pets for me :p

i have one left now one died never figured out the cause but they are fun to keep and look at and handle on the ocassion. I dont handle mine all that often i got pinched only once but boy did i ever know it....

Like The Nothing said, I'd advise against handling them often as well. They're really not a touchy feely pet and they do have one helluva pinch to remind you that they're not a puppy dog.

With that said, they're actually kind of boring too. They tend to hide out quite a bit and don't do a whole lot when they're not feeding.

I have one, but then again...I have to have everything that strikes my interest. They're fun to watch hunt (I feed mine appropriate size crickets) and they're really easy to care for.

Good luck. :)
