Exciting news! Going to work in a vet clinic!

Last week I received a call from our local wildlife rehab and vet clinic. The vet there was wondering if I would like to part time, usually 1 day a week, as a receptionist. She mentioned my love of reptiles and how it would be nice to have someone there who likes them. I was recommended by their full-time receptionist, who also knows about my love of scaly things. I mentioned that I had medical transcription background and that I am good with computers and it seemed like it was meant to be. :) I wasn't looking for work, as I am a homeschooling mom of 4 kiddos, but this is a very small thing and I think a good opportunity for me to learn AND educate others about the animals I love.

I start training tomorrow!

So, I thought I'd report and say that I have worked 4 different days now, and I really enjoy it! I haven't seen any exotics yet, but I already have the welcome to bring my snakes to any "petting zoo" event that they do, which is fairly often in the summer. I don't think I'll do that this year since the snakes are still pretty small, but maybe next year! Of course I'd stay with them and not just put them in a cage.
