Extreme blushing on a pastel royal

Tula_Montage

It's Jager time!
Sir Gnarly is now over 500 grams... He was only 158 the day he arrived in December :grin01:

Freshly shed and looking amazing. I would have expected him to dull down by now but he keeps getting lighter and the blushing on his back just gets better! His temprement towards me has vastly improved, although he hates everyone else

He is by far my favourite snake (atm) LOL

That's a fine looking snake, Elle. What is blushing? I'm assuming it's the fade-out in the middle of the dark pattern, but I could be wrong. As you know, I'm not the biggest fan of the "sausage" body boids, but I've actually been tempted to get one. The local pet store has some regular ol' CBB BPs, and they're beautiful. I was very tempted. They just came in, so the pet store hasn't had the chance to uglify them yet with their bad husbandry and neglect. When I bought my lav-albino banded king from them over a year ago, they had a lav-albino striped king in there too. They had both arrived that day. Both were gorgeous and healthy looking, but I preferred the banded. Well, the striped king is still there and he looks overfed, dull, dirty, and he has retained eyecaps in both eyes. :( So I'm no longer too keen on supporting their live animal sales.

Your right Dean, Blushing would be where the colours fade into each other. Normally it goes un noticed but his is quite spectacular :)

As you know I AM a huge fan of fat lazy boids.... Active royals are unhappy royals IMHO. Obviously thats just from personal experience, but royals who roam are not comfortable. Sir Gnarly only moves to pee on his plants and tip over his waterbowl.

Why not get one! I promise they are excellent snakes, but they can really test your patience at times. I think its just sheer luck that I got a really angry little hatchling who took it out on his food :p You are lucky enough to live in the US where you guys are on top of the market. I don't like yellow snakes at all but a nice pastel royal can be stunning! And of course being a co-dominant gene its necessary in many of the nicest designer morphs eg bumble bees (pastel spider) or pastaves (pastel mojaves). Even being bred together to give you super pastels is a stunning morph!

I wouldn't buy from a petstore though... Royals need to have been bred from big healthy parents and should be established feeders before you think about buying. I have got all my royal hatchlings well over 150grams. They hatch out between 40 and 100 grams (those being extreme ends of the scale). And they were from reputable breeders, who will always give you a better deal anyway.

Tula-

That thar snake looks like he don't trust ya' as far as he could throw ya'. In every picture he seems to be "eyeballin' " you as if to say "Just try to touch me. Go ahead...I dare you..."

He shore is purdy, though...
