Mr Clare, the spiders keeper, with his very pampered California king snake...Mr Clare is the head of facilities at Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis MD, and a real neat guy...He has a few different critters to show and educate the pre-schoolers that attend daycare there...The church hosted a blood drive (I'm the equipment guy) and it just goes to show you can meet someone as enthusiastic about the hobby as yourself pretty much anywhere, and in places you'd not think to look :*)

Nah, you can't get me to go so far as allowing a spider to walk on me...not gonna happen...EVER!!!!!

Yes I know, I'm weird...

Wow! I have some weird obsession with spiders, I adore the little buggers. I love having them in my room, they help get rid of the real enemy, (flies), and they won't make a noise or mess apart from cobwebs, which I think look really pretty.

i could hold the snake but freak out looking at spider nooo spiders, the snake looks cool though

I've held a couple of Rosehair and Zebra Tarantulas.... :shrugs:

What gave ME da jibblies, however, was holding a Giant African Millipede.

regards,
jazz

Pretty much the same goes for me. I'll see spiders crawling around the house but I just leave them alone to kill the other bugs. However, my husband is not a spider guy, he hates them. At least if he ever sees one he has me take it outside rather than kill it.

Thought some people might be interested... Here's 3 photos of some orb weaver spiderlings I took last spring. Each spider was only about 2-3 mm in length:

Beautiful pics, Amanda...I'm not a squasher (anymore), my wife has absolutely no fear and she just takes a cup or a napkin and lets them go outside...Our basement has house spiders, yellow sac spiders, a few big wolf spiders that like to hide under laundry baskets hehe and with the snakes being down there we hold an uneasy truce, the spiders and I...they stay pretty much hidden and I dont squash anyone...

My mom, who hated most "icky" things, used to love watching the almost dime sized jumping spiders around our house and they were under her no kill protection as they ran accross the ceiling of the living room, snatching any fly foolish enough to land...

Awesome Pictures Amanda.

And, just for the record, Tarantulas and spiders are in the same insect family, but they are not the same thing. If you talk to a Tarantula guy and call his pets spiders, most of them will be quick to correct you about this.

I guess I'm weird too since I like spiders, I thought the pic of the spider cluster was cute. When it comes to other bugs though I really hate cockroaches especially those big madagascar hissing ones, talk about getting the creeps, ughhhh!!! *shudders*

lol. I have to agree with you on the roaches. Can't see how people can keep them as pets. But, I like spiders, tarantulas, and scorps. Won't ever be able to keep these because of the wife though. she hates them all.
