feeding chart for ball pythons?

ladydragon

My wish list is......
Hey everyone, have a question. I know that there is the munson feeding plan for corns, but is there something similar to that for other snakes, ie: ball pythons? If there is I'd appreciate it. thanx.

What is it in particular you need in information? I don't understand the reference of the Munson, so I didn't answer.

I can help you if you need it :)

To answer LadyOh-

The "Munson Plan" is a snake to mouse weight ratio that provides the appropriate sized mouse to snake by using weight rather than thickness of body. Folks who follow the Munson Plan(courtesy of our own Roy Munson), swear it increases the growth rates of their snakes without increasing fat content of their bodies or causing lower musculature.

To answer the original poster-

No, I have never seen nor heard of a "Munson Plan" for BPs(to my knowledge, Dean doesn't own any ball pythons, and therefor hasn't performed the necessary calculations to create a plan). I follow the old standard; prey should be the same thickness or slightly smaller than the middle of the snake's body, which is usually the thickest part of the snake.

However...there is nothing stopping you from creating your own "Munson Plan". Simply weigh the prey you intend to feed and record it in comparison to the weight of your snake, perform the calculations, and extrapolate...

I have a MS Works spreadsheet that I use to calculate my food orders. I can't seem to find a suitable way to post the spread sheet, so I will just give you the logic behind it so you can create your own. I use it for corns, kings, balls, and retics. Feed your juveniles (hatchlings to a year old) 20 percent of their body weight every five days. Feed your yearlings (12 to24 months old) 15 percent of their body weight once a week. Feed your adults (24 months or older) every two weeks. Feed breeding females once a week. Pretty simple, huh?
