feeding live makes them mean???

Somebody told me that feeding your snake live mice will make them mean. As in they'll be more apt to strike whenever they see movement. I feed f/t and Lucy is very docile...has never offered to strike even when in the blue.

So is it true? Those of you who feed live, do you have to watch your fingers more???

no, I don't find this to be the case at all . I feed life and FT and there is no difference in the snake personality.

oh man does it ever!

I feed live. And they know it now. So whenever I open the cage they come out striking at every movement including my hand! Yep, feeding live definetly brings out the evil in snakes. But I don't mind wearing band aids every week. Especially the strawberry shortcake ones. I think they go along well with my nails.

I don't feed live, but mine get very aggressive around food anyway. If I don't take out and feed the most aggressive feeders first, it's definitely chew on the hand and arm time! I don't think it makes a lick of difference.

what matters more than food type, is where the animal is feed. if it is feed in the vivarium(rubbermaid, or what have you) it is definitely more likely to strike when you open up the cage (they usually calm down once they are in hand). if you feed out of the cage, they are a lot less likely to strike on cage opening.

what really makes em mean...

is when you try to wear the blue smurf band aids, then they really get nasty. So just be warned. Don't wear smurf band aids.
