I have a corn, i just measured it, and it was on my bed and it was moving along so he wasnt straight, and he must've been around 20 inches, and about half an inch thick at the thickest...... i am feeding him one fuzzy every tuesday... is it time to feed bigger?

i am also wondering what kind of corn i have, i bought him from a pet store and all it was was a "baby corn" ... i will post pictures asap but hes got this reddish pattern, but like.... darker red, not albino.....and the red is in spots almost... all down the back of it... any ideas until i get a picture up?

Basically im wondering what i should be feeding him at this stage... and how often... i went from one pinky every tuesday, to a fuzzy every tuesday... since september 2006. THANKS

Well as far as the feeding goes its really up to you. If you want, you could just buy a hopper and look at it next to your snake (your snake would probably try and eat it, so maybe try and compare as your snake is eating its normal fuzzy). I'm sure you've heard about only feeding something that is a max of 1.5X the width of your snake. If you think that he/she could handle a hopper try and see.

So if I go by the 1.5x the width of my snake idea, when will i want to change the frequency of feeds? now its every tuesday, how long until he should be eating less regularly?

no need to change to a different schedule. once a week is good until your snake pretty much full grown, then you can slow it down to once every 10 days or two weeks even.

at 20 inches long it really depends on how big around it is. If one fuzzy leaves a lump that's visible for two full days it's still a good size, if the lump is gone before that time, try two fuzzies or a smaller hopper. keep in mind the 1.5x rule, I've successful fed prey 2x as wide but it's probably not a good idea if you can avoid it.

As for the kind of corn snake you have: The spots down the back are often called saddles, if he's got black circles around the red spots it's probably a classic (normal) corn snake. Pet shops usually sell normals or a few of the more common morphs like amel, anery or snow. A lot of breeds will sell their high end morphs at reptile shows and sell the more common ones to pet shops.
