I bought my first snake on the 4th of january its a 6 month old mexican black kingsnake, he ate a pinkie on the 12th but hasnt eaten since, and i read that if i put him in an ice-creme tub overnight with a mouse that he should eat it, so i trid it last night
and this morning i opend the tub and the mouse was still there but was covered in what looked like snake poo?? did he eat it and then return it?? how can i get him to eat???
please help:(

I don't know much about kingsnakes but I'll give some suggesstions. How big is your cage? Baby snakes like small hiding places to feel secure. What's the temp? A common problem (with corns @ least) is that snakes will regurgitate thier food if the temp is too low or the food isn't properly thawed. Or maybe he's just not hungry. Patience is sometimes best.

thanks for the help mate.
I keep him in a 18"x12"x18" plastic tank with two small hide boxes the temp is around 80 on one side and 70 on the other.

try

Warming him up a little. 70 on one side is fine but try making the warm side 82-85. I have a Mexican Black, and like most kings some try and go off food for the winter. Warming mine up a couple degrees usually works. But wait at least 10 days since his last regurgatation before feeding him again. this should give you ample time to warm it up a little and give him time to adjust to that. If all else fails try scenting with anoles, or live pinkies.

put

Your thermastat on the hot side of the tank, if you use a heat mat, place it directly on top of it, under the substrate. If you use a lamp directly under it. Set it at 85 and it should be fine.
