But she's deep in shed. :awcrap:

I bought her in Rich Z.'s Thanksgiving sale, but weather and holidays delayed her shipping. Because she's a female, she may never catch up to Vlad in terms of coloration, but he actually looked a lot like her when he arrived. But who knows what she really looks like anyway since she's so deep into blue.

Her name is Violet. I sure hope she lives up to it. :)

Taceas said she would cry the next time I posted a photo of a new snake. Better break out the tissues, Misty. :grin01:

Dean, that's over your limit of snakes per year. You have over stepped your quota and must immediately start sending me snakes :D

Even in the blue she's pretty. I really hope she colors up for you. Post more pictures when she sheds :D
 
Shucks. Guess another trip in the summer is in order to properly photograph this new snake.

Absolutely. I knew you were going to just miss her. Hopefully she loses the mocha look by summer.
 
Another beautiful, and long awaited, addition. Congrats, Dean. You know I will be waiting for post shed pics as well :D
 
We are definitely going to have to talk in a year or two when you start hatchling out lav bloods and hypo lavs---amongst other things, like the ghost bloods.

Thanks Traci. And you know you'll be seeing her before her shed skin even gets a chance to start drying out. :grin01: But I have to admit, after all the great photos Joe posted, my own pics seem so dull. It's kinda discouraging. At work yesterday, I found myself pricing Nikon D50s...

Definitely (if Murphy wills it). I really hope all goes well. I have't hatched out anything for a decade or so, and back then it was all accidental (though not unwelcome) breeding. I was also the Colonel Kurtz of incubation-- my methods were... unsound. I'd love to get a Nature's Spirit, Helix-equipped incubator unit. But they ain't cheap.

Honestly, you could incubate all of your clutches by putting them inside your rack and removing a snake or two, and turning down the temps to 82 or so. That would proabably work better, or just as well as any incubator unit out there.
 
Cough Joe I get to see all of them this weekend including Violet ahem COUGH...geez, I must be getting a chest cold over here...... :grin01: He's not kidding about pricing the camera by the way haha. I don't think I'll get a Christmas present next year...unless it's a lumpy Ghost or a Northern Brown with the musk from hell....Dean knows from first hand experience :grin01:
 
If he wants to drop ~650 or so for those types of photographs, then by all means, go right ahead! I'll even send him the link for the cheapest D50 online. Of course, I think he'd rather get more snakes!

She's absolutely beautiful Dean, even in full blue. She has some great diffusion. Her mocha color looks pretty similar to my lav when he was a little one. He surprised me and really pinked out, so don't loose hope yet! She'll be a beauty! Some of the best lavs start off sh** brown. Congrats!

You're right, and this probably is the method I'll employ this year, since I'll only have a few clutches. I'll be assessing this method before I drop $500 on the NS incubator. But I would like to get one for the more intensive breeding I plan to do in a couple of years.

Right again, and I won't be getting one any time soon. But from some of the PM responses I've gotten from your photos, I'm beginning to think about an SLR camera from a marketing standpoint. I won't be breeding anything high end for a couple of years, but when I do, it sure would be nice to present my "goods" as attractively as possible.

Thanks Catherine, I hope you're right about her future coloration. My other lav-blood, my two hypo-lavs, and my regular lav all started out a crappy mocha color, but they are turning out nicely. So I haven't lost hope yet.

I'm not trying to make anyone look bad, and you don't really want my job. :grin01: It pays ok, but I'm on call 24x7, and most of the credit for my efforts is stolen by my absolutely clueless managers anyway (think Dilbert). Not uncommon, I know, but frustrating. I drive a beat-up, paid-for car, and I don't have a wife or kids, so I get to spend my money the way I want to. Don't worry though, you will see a distinct drop in new acquisitions for '06. I'm not saying that there won't be any, but I can promise you that there won't be 20-30 of them. :rolleyes: :)
