First hopper euthanization...could use some feedback

Like the title says...i got the hopper. I place him in a plastic bag, and i whacked it against the wall as hard as i could. The mouse was instantly still, it's back leg twitched for about 3 seconds, and then it was completely dead. You guys don't think this was painful for it do u? I appreciate the feedback ahead of time :)/

It probably wasn't painful whatsoever, as it sounds like you hit him nice and hard. The brain still fires off neurons after a death like that, causing the muscle spasms. Don't worry about it.

I don't have the stomach to do blunt force dispatching, I CO2 with a homemade chamber utilizing baking soda and vinegar. I would have been more worried if it had not twitched afterward because that would mean it was just unconscious and not dead.

Definitely painless, especially with such a small animal. Personally I do one very very hard thwack, with a second not quite so hard thwack just to make sure it's dead and not unconscious.
