first question for purchasing

Hello again. I have the option of purchasing these two corn snakes with set ups for 20 dollars. I am wanting to start breeding corn snakes but will keep them as pets for 1-2 years first. I have plenty of reptile experience but like I mentioned in my "hello forum" post, I have a hard time still identifying corns especially adults. Could you guys please help me identify these two so I can make a decision on purchasing them? Thanks in advance.

These are going for 30 each and I might get them too. But they are being advertised as: "I have okeetees het amel, anery. and creamsicles het anery." Here is the link: http://portland.craigslist.org/yam/pet/4578648306.html

I really would like to breed colorful ones. My main focus is on my chams and ball pythons but with luck I will get some really pretty corn snakes that win my attention over :) Not sure how this forum handles newbies that talk about breeding but it's frowned upon in some other forums I belong to so I want to mention some things so you guys know where I am coming from. I will always look for good homes for my animals and every time I sell I try to keep in contact so I have the chance to buy the animal back if the owner decides to sell or even if the animal becomes sick and they cant afford the vet bill. I also have no problem what so ever keeping every single animal as my own pet for the life of the animal. I just really like reptiles and my life's at a point now where I can do what I enjoy.

The red one is a normal (it does look okeetee-ish), and the grey one looks like an anery. Twenty dollars for two snakes and a setup is a good price, however, both snakes look thin, especially the anery. They should not be kept together, so you'll have to get a separate enclosure. And they should not be kept on sand, as it can get under their scales and be irritating. These snakes may not be in great condition, so even though the price is good, you may need to end up taking them to the vet.

Ok thanks for that advice. I will pass on them then. They are probably skinny because they had a high stress life. They were used as classroom pets so you're probably right about passing on the first ones I asked about.

Those ones look a lot better to me.

Just realized I forgot to attach the pictures of the second set.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with this forum, but there's a classifieds section if you scroll down. Lots of people have babies right now, so there's plenty to pick from.

Im new and no offense meant, but as a one breed dog owner, I'd look at the first two with more of an eye for rescue, because they definitely do not look to be in good shape or environment.

I have no problem with rescuing, but I don't think you should have to pay for rescues that are in bad shape. If the person would be willing to give the snakes free of charge to a better home, that would be okay. But the original poster is also looking to buy some snakes for breeding, and these ones might have health issues, so they probably wouldn't be a good choice for that reason.

I have looked at the classifieds and will probably have to resume over the next several days as I am still amazed by all the different corns.

The first two I am writing to the owner and saying I would take them for free and telling him all that is wrong with the set up. He says they were "classroom pets" and that they should go to a good snake home now. Not sure how old they are but if I have to give them a home for a year or so then I will but I'd rather not as I'm hoping to get pets that I can breed down the road and they're not the quality or type that I would be interested in.

Jen, (Ghosthouse Corns) has good quality Cornsnakes and is in Eugene, OR.
She generally goes to the Portland shows.
She would be a good one to get breeding quality Corns from.
