Knowing you have a passion for the corvette......

I was Driving back from Florida this Morning/Afternoon/Night.. :)

And I spotted this....coming up fast from behind me.... Luckily....I had My

He passed me at 75mph......By the time the camera came to life...and was

ready for the pic....My F150 was nearing 90Mph....and he was pulling away!!!

He Certainly Wasn't Hurting in the HP Dept.

In the second Pic....i finally caught up with him....about 100miles later. And

STILL couldn't get Nothing but tail lights! :)

For what it's worth.....

The plates read:

Thanks!

"C3" stands for the third generation of Corvettes. From 1968 through 1982. Sounds like it was one of the earlier years, as they had a lot more get up and go than the later years when GM eviscerated the engine compartment by putting in very low horsepower engines.

Of course, that's even assuming that the original engine was still in it. A lot of Corvettes a heavily modded, no matter what year they are.

Judging by the rear window it would be between a 78-82. I am guessing new motor also because those years, as Rich said, were weak somewhere around 200 hp. Good thing is they were easy to spice up. My 74 was only about 250 from the factory but now runs a decent 375-400 hp. Fun cars but they can suck up a lot of spare change.

Tell me about it..... ;)

It all started when I had this idea I wanted a 427 instead of a 346 c.i.d. engine in my C5 Z06....................

I have followed your trials and tribulations but I'll bet it's a fun drive now.

Still working on the tuning. That's been quite the learning experience all by itself. And I found out that the guys who worked on my car did not hook up the turbo wastegates correctly. So I've got parts on order so I can fix that problem.

Oh man, that is a pretty car.

Rich Z, I have read your thread about your engine. I bet it just makes you so mad you want to spit about the guys screwing a lot of the engine up.

My husband's dad loves Corvettes. He also loves building kit cars.

He just traded his kit car that looked like an old Ferrari (I believe it was a Ferrari) for this:

It was an even trade. My father in law said the guy was a stunt driver and has all sorts of different cars and just wanted the kit car.

At a guess...I'd say Lambo Contouch?? (Not Sure of Spelling.....I don't Make enough $$$ to learn proper Spelling or Pronunciation! :) )

LOL I will ask Mark when he gets home. It could very well be Lambo something or other. Maybe I was getting confused because Mark's favorite car is the Ferrari. I forget what the frame of the car was before they built the kit.

Some of the kit cars are pretty sharp looking. But they look like a LOT of work. I guess if I ever wrecked the blue car I might consider something like that. I've learned a LOT since I've had to be doing the wrenching on the car myself.

This one would be REAL high on my list -> https://www.factoryfive.com/kits/gtm-supercar/

The short blurb I made on this site about my car is the smallest tip of the iceberg you can imagine. Anyone interested can read the WHOLE story here-> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44697

But be warned, it's a VERY long thread. And is really only PART 2. That part started after I rejected the first engine because the quality of the block and heads was ridiculously bad. The holes for the intake manifold were drilled wrong, and I found a crack in a head at a valve guide boss. Every stock GM bracket had to be modified to fit onto the block. So the engine builder built me a new engine when the crappy one got sent back to him.

I SERIOUSLY do not know why this didn't break my mind. And/or I didn't kill someone. All things considered, I probably would have gotten off on a "justifiable homicide" defense. Or at least temporary insanity. Fortunately I rarely lose my temper, I guess, no matter how much I am prodded.

Got to take the car out today to do some more tuning work. I will be perfectly honest about this, the car does scare me a bit. I always want to look at the boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge when it goes into boost, but it's all I can do to hold onto the steering wheel and I get extreme tunnel vision for the road in front of me. It almost feels like it leaps down the road when the turbos kick in, so you can't have your mind wandering.

So yeah, I guess I am glad I didn't just give up on it the many times I really wanted to. Someone else would have gotten one hell of a car for pennies on the dollar.

oOoOoOooo I like that kit car. Mark helped his dad build that red car until he left to join the Air Force. His dad had it forever. We were really surprised when he traded it. However, he is a big corvette fan. He lives near Ft. Walton Beach. I can't think of the name of the town.

Mark just said it was a Lamborghini countach kit car. He said the chassis was from a Fiero GT. His dad bought the Fiero and parted out the car to help fund the kit car.
