i figured it would be some type of common spider, but she is completely convinced that it is a baby tarantula! she wanted some reassurance.
 
yeah, i'd go with wolf. my basement is full of em. and with mine they mignt as well be tarantulas. yesterday there was one about as big as a half-dollar in the bathroom.
 
Definately a wolf spider! We had so many in our backyard when we lived in the woods. Be careful they are dangerous if you get bit!
 
Wolf spiders are not dangerous, thats just a myth. There are so many large ground dwelling spiders that get called wolf's that most people don't know the difference.
Wolf spiders live in holes in the ground, kind of like a tarantula. Grass spiders live in funnel webs around piles of rocks.
