Fun feeding night

BooBoo18

Just 1, no 2, ok 3, um 4
I do not know if it was a full moon or what last night but is was a crazy feeding day here.

Pierre decided to grab his fuzzie as I was placing him into his feeding container so he ate with his rear wrapped around my hand. Geesh dude if you had given me a sec!

Nathair had just shed this morning and was in his tube. My daughter thought it would be fine to pick him up in his tube and slide him into the feeding container. Well she woke him up and he freaked going all goofy with the tail rattling and striking. He went back in his home and we put the feeding container in too. This morning no pinkies so he ate sometime during the night.

Dillinger decided to hold onto his branch as he was being lifted into his container and got a chance to eat in his tree since he grabbed a pinkie while still attached to his branch. The feeding container went in his home too with the remaining pinkie.

My sweety Eros is the only one who cooperated with his feeding last night. He was relaxing in his plant and I was able to lift him right up and into his container where he laid back downed his two pinkies.

Was wondering what types of feeding mishaps has everyone had with their snakes. I know this is probably pretty minor but it was an interesting evening for me.

I was feeding my girl and she bolted out as soon as I opened the lid! I grabbed her before she headed into the couch and with the scent of mouse in the air and the fact she was in her container coupled with my quick movement I was mistaken for a mouse! It didn't hurt a bit, but I jumped and quickly used an old sock I found on the floor to push her back in lol.

lol I bet you were freaked out as much as the snake was. Good job at thwarting the escape attempt!!

I've been lucky with my corns and feeding so far (I usually put them all in their feeding containers before I bring the mice anywhere near the room, because our bloodred mistook my bf's hand for a mouse her first feeding day with us...so we make sure they're safely in feeding containers before the mice come around)

Our boa's the one you have to watch on feeding day. I hadn't realized quite how aggressive she was, and as soon as the mouse came near her, she started striking. Her aim's not terribly good though, and she was angled toward my hand (I got lucky...she didn't actually hit me, although she came close). We learned afterward that her food goes in the feeding box, then she's quickly moved in there on feeding day (one of us puts the mouse in, the other handles her) and she gets her feeding tote gently tipped back into her viv at the end (first time, she not only struck repeatedly when I tried to move her, but sat on top of her hide hissing loudly for 15-20 minutes after her feeding)

Mango has been even more active than normal. He seems to hate being in a cage and tries to get out the moment the screen top is off. So last night, I had to open the screen top an inch and dangle the mouse in with forceps so he would get the mouse instead of getting out. He struck at the mouse and did the full coil routine. He's a bird brain. :D

Loki has been extremely active as well! I fed him on Sunday and by Monday he was digested and zooming around his viv. Must be something in the water

Maybe it is the season. I went out and got some bigger feeding containers with tall sides hoping this will minimize any problems or having a feeding snake hanging off my arm not that I mind since he was pretty fast about chowing down. They are such fun guys and I am really amazed they have such different personalities.

I haven't had any totally unusual feeding experiences, but I do sometimes like to watch my snakes eat, so I'll keep the lid off of their feeding container while they eat. One time, Wilma was moving around backwards as she was trying to swallow her pinky that she actually left the tub (still backwards), so I just let her finish eating hanging out of the tub all upside down and backwards.
