Funny things people say in ads

Hey! So one of the things I like to do in my spare time is look in the reptile classifieds of the various irish buy and sell websites. One thing I love (and kinda hate) about looking through the ads is how little people know sometimes. It makes me laugh so much!

For example, I saw an ad for a columbian red tail boa and it said, 'this animal is 6 feet long and will grow to around 43 feet.' :roflmao:
I replied to the ad and was like 'are you sure, 43 feet?!' and they said: 'yes it grows about 43ft. that is arround 12-13 meters, right?'

:smash:

So I helped them correct their numbers but I couldn't stop laughing. It also makes me kinda sad though that people just haven't got a clue about the animals they're looking after! And like you'd think they'd look something like that up before posting the ad....

Well anyway, what funny ads have ye seen where they just say really stupid things??

Haha was just looking at another ad and it says:

'royal phyhon for sale, snake is about two years old and is trained'

How does one train a snake again ?! :D

Not reptile related, directly but does happen every now and then with reptiles. The ones that irritate me are the dog ads with misspelled dog breeds! Granted, some of them can be really hard to remember how to spell but why would you not look it up before posting an ad? Very few people can spell Chihuahua and the various attempts can be highly entertaining!

I totally agree!

One that I see sometimes on snake ads is people who say, "3 feet long, good eater, and very playful". I've yet to see a snake that's playful!

Yeah, all you have to do is type the word wrong into google and it'll tell you what its supposed to be. lol All too often I see 'breaded dragon' (?) or 'dragon lizard' haha!

hypnoctopus;1598111 One that I see sometimes on snake ads is people who say said:
I dunno my little onyx pushes his stuff around the tank, maybe he's playing football or something!! lol

Just had a guy who put up an ad saying 'can be handled every day' for a little 3 week old snow. I just messaged him to let him know his snake needs to digest for a couple of days after she eats and shouldn't be handled.
He says 'Yeah not this one she swollows it and the next day its gone trust me I know everything there is to know'

Oh, another one I see all the time for dog ads that makes me chuckle is 'pure bread'. Really? Wheat or rye?

Oh, yes! That's another favorite of mine! 80% of the people who post on the local CL don't know the difference between bread and breed or bred.

Not to sound like a hypocrite, I can totally understand obvious typos, they happen to everyone. Just noticed that I've put Kenyon instead of Kenyan several times recently. Had had cause to type Kenyon as a name a few times for something else and then use the wrong vowel without noticing when I'm typing about something else entirely.

Then you've never seen a Catil eat! They look playful...oh wait...they are just attacking the food...never mind...

I think my favorite was an ad I saw a while back. Said the snake was baby tame but he was holding it up with hot dog tongs.

Come to think of it I did an ad for a bipolar kingsnake. I really did at one time think of medicating him lol

Eh, he is good one minute and being all sweet and nice and then.....BAM he is trying to chew on your face. Gotta love em like that lol

They are cranky, poopy, musking pains in the arse...We sold ours after two years of putting up with him...My husband called him Sir Crapsalot....if you took him out...have paper towel handy...he was going to try to get you with it! Never bit though...

This one has never musked or pooped on me, just chewed. The other one that was here was demon spawn you got all the above and more when you picked him up.
