Harassment Issue.

A stressful update.

So, his ex tried to contact us last night again through text messages and a phone call. Saying things I dare not say aloud as they are inappropriate, she stated how she the dogs are hers and that we must get in contact with her so we can give them back to her. We looked into our cell phone company and they do not block specific phone numbers, only text messages. The best we could do is get a no contact order against her, but she hasn't said anything that is straightforwardly threatening so we can't pursue an order yet. We just have to be patient for her to either slip up and say something really bad or leave us alone. Even if we could get an order against her I don't know how the police would serve it to her, she doesn't have a permanent address because she is kind of a drifter. Stressful times again. :(

You can text her one last time with the following information...

"Do not contact us again. The dogs are legally ours and you can verify the law regarding ownership of dogs in the state of Ohio -

'955.01 Registration of dogs

(A)(1) Except as otherwise provided in this section or in sections 955.011 [955.01.1], 955.012 [955.01.2], and 955.16 of the Revised Code, every person who owns, keeps, or harbors a dog more than three months of age, shall file, on or after the first day of the preceding December but before the thirty-first day of January of each year, in the office of the county auditor of the county in which the dog is kept or harbored, an application for registration for the following year, beginning the thirty-first day of January of that year. The board of county commissioners, by resolution, may extend the period for filing the application. The application shall state the age, sex, color, character of hair, whether short or long, and breed, if known, of the dog and the name and address of the owner of the dog. A registration fee of two dollars for each dog shall accompany the application, unless a greater fee has been established under division (A)(2) of this section or under section 955.14of the Revised Code.'

If you continue to harrass us about this issue, our attorney will be contacting you."

After that, do not reply to her text or phone call. Engage your Ignore Button. She doesn't exist. The law is on your side, she can't do anything but annoy you. Change any and all numbers necessary to cut down on the harrassment. If she does persist, I would contact an attorney to see what can be done.

I agree with the 'no contact' but I would not put the above in. It does not in fact verify ownership.
If you escalate with a lot of stuff, that is just what she wants. Start mentioning proceedings, and the game is on. She knows that after two years she has no leg to stand on, but she is obviously someone who loves drama and if you do anyting that shows you take her seriously, she will make your life heck.
She may get more demanding for a while with her texts now to try to claim your attention, but if you resolutely ignore her, she will go away.

Or change your number . . .

Yep. Sound advice. Anyone you wish to speak with can be given the new number. Its not as hard as you think it is...and if you and your boyfriend are truley committed to getting this disturbance out of your life, this is the quickest, easiest, and most sure method. She CANT contact you if she doesn't have the number. Also, you can file a report with the police, and let them know in that report you've changed your number because of the harassment. You do not need to press charges to do this. This way, if she tracks you down, you've started building a case. It devlopes a history and a paper trail which will work in your favor.
If she's a drifter, where the heck is she putting these dogs anyway? Just change your number and get rid of the crazy 'rymes with witch'
