Hello!

I would like to hear about what you all keep new hatchlings in. Not pet bought or one or two, but those of you who have clutches hatching....what do you keep them in?

I am planning on housing seperatly so ideas in that area will be a benefit over any that involve keeping them together.

I have a few ideas so far. 1. GladWare...cheap, secure and comes in a 104OZ flat square size...its about the same as the smaller rubbermaid shoe box, but square. Or I was just going to buy a bunch of rubbermaid shoeboxes.

They stack nicely and are .79 at Big Lots.

I would love to hear what others do.
 
I usually keep them in deli cups with little water dishes or the gladware like you suggested. When they get a little bigger I move them into the Rubbermaid shoe boxes.
 
Housing Hatchlings

I like the idea of housing them separately.
You can hot-glue a little water dish (plastic bottle cap or other such item) into a deli cup, GladWare or ZipLoc container, so the hatchling won't tip the water and constantly be laying in water until next bedding check/cleaning.
And, if you're really O/C like me, you can sit and cut little holes in the paper towel bedding, to fit around the 'water dish'.
This is what I do during those 'antsy' days that preclude hatching.
Keeps me from checking the eggs every two hours!:rolleyes:
Also - has anyone else gone to Walmart and found the white
2-oz. 'condiment cups'? They look like tiny white crockery dishes. They are heavier than the plastic ones that are like the deli cup plastic, so the youngsters have a hard time tipping them.
I got them on sale for 4 for $1. They also have slightly larger ones, but I don't remember the price on those.

Rich, I imagine you'll be offering those spiffy little waterers at your "New and improved" Serpenco web site that you are currently developing. I like the idea of a re-usable, untippable product that will last a snake keepers lifetime.
You'll just have to stop sleeping at night to find the time to make more of these gizmos ;)

A shopping cart full of Corn Snakes...and some supplies too...
You sure are making it easy for one to spend ones money when the mood strikes... I like that in a web site :)

Yeah Rich has sweet containers and cups....but for only 19 possible hatchlings this year I doubt I will put out the money to have the shipped up here to good 'ole Canada.

Since his deli cups are 8 OZ, then teh gladware 104OZ flat square ones should do just fine since I am not sure how long I will have to keep each one.....thanks guys!

And yeah I definitly want to keep them apart. I want to know whos doing what and how each is doing each day :)

Hah! I have four people wanting those water dishes, but it will take me a full day just to clean the junk out of the way so I can even GET to my milling machine!

I have tried to clean out my workroom several times, but each time I pick up a pile of stuff to move it, I will stand there looking around for 5 minutes, then realize there is NO WHERE else to put it, and it's stuff I don't want to throw away, so I put it right back where it was.

Those little buggers are just time consuming to make, but I really should get some made up soon. They sold real well at the shows, so it would be smart of me to make up some more rather than dinking around creating these new websites here and there.

I never claimed I was real smart......

I've been waiting for that e-mail saying that you'd made some of those water dishes for me!!!
