Old enough to know better
I found my latest rescue, Seymour, dead this morning. He was so skinny and dehydrated I am not surprised. I buried him in the yard with other pets who've passed.

My husband just came home from work and told me one of our good friends and coworker was killed yesterday going to work in a car accident. His wife just came back to work at the casino after staying home with their girls for a few years, we all became instant friends the day we started there almost 10 years ago, Danny was one of the nicest, most sincere, caring human beings I have ever known. He ALWAYS said hi and asked how you were doing, took the time to really get to know people, and adored his wife Michelle and their daughters to no end.

He had just been nominated for employee of the month, a very hard thing to achieve at our casino. He totally deserved it.

I also lost a best friend (also coworker) who I worked with in St. Louis and then here in Phoenix, I was there when his and his wife (one of my best friends) had their first son, and then Brad was killed not quite two years ago in a car accident also.

Not a year has gone by in 20 years that someone I know dies tragically and way too young.

I know all of you have lost someone as well, it just doesn't get any easier.

Thanks, guys, it means a lot. My eyes are burning from crying so much, and I am just exhausted. It makes me extra grateful for my friends here.

Hugs back,
Michelle
