Healthy ball python

BPs are not overweight unless the scales on their body are being pushed apart and you can see the skin between them when they are at rest. It is damn hard to over feed a BP. They are a short but HEAVY BODIED python.

A appropriate rat every 1-2 weeks works. Every 2 weeks for a pet, every 1 week for a breeder.

You must know that you can't compare a ball python to a corn snake or other rat snakes. Pythons are "fat" by nature and it would be unhealthy to try to get them to look like a corn snake.

no Its not that i want them to be like a corn snake its just when i got the ball pythons from my cousin i didnt think that they get that heavy.

With the way BPs can go off feed, you probably need them to have all that body. It's not uncommon for some to go off feed for up to 8 months.

If you want a python that's small but not heavy like a BP, try a woma or children's python. Womas are laid back, thinner bodied than most pythons (resemble bull snakes), but do get about twice as long according to a few care sheets. Children's pythons are only about 3 feet but also laid back. They don't seem to have much in the way of coloring or pattern though.
