Hi everyone,

I've been skulking about this site for awhile, and finally got around to registering.

I've been keeping snakes off and on for almost 25 years, and have found them to be like potato chips and M&M's - you can't have just one! I started out that way, but am up to 28 now. It's an addiction I want no cure for; I enjoy the lunacy! :)

Anyway, I have 9 corn snakes, 4 rat snakes, 1 gopher snake, 1 milk snake (actually, my stepson's), and 13 carpet pythons. I have another gopher snake coming, along with 2 northern pines, as soon as it's warm enough to ship up here to the frigid wasteland.

I look forward to spending more time here; I'm a member of a python forum, but I need my corn fix once in awhile! This seems like a great site with a lot of knowledgeable people.

Hi and Welcome Kathy. Holy macaroni that is one mess of snakes. What kind of rat snakes?

Hi Kathy :wavey: welcome to the forum!

I think I speak for many people when I say we would love to see pics of your snakes!

Thanks Susan and Rich!

Susan, I have two Baird's rat snakes, and 2 Calico rat snakes. I will post some photos of the Calicos - not sure if I should start a new thread or not. Will Bird discovered the gene in a wild-caught snake in Kentucky, and not too many people are familiar with them. They are very cool, and I hope to breed my pair this year.

Rich, I would love to show off my snakes (don't we all?!). I have quite a few; anything in particular you would like to see? I've mainly been focusing on my pythons for the past few years, but would like to get back into corns and rats a little more. There are some absolutely gorgeous varieties out there!

Hi, Kathy in the cold state!
Welcome to here, great site. I'm sure you must have a lot of info to offer. You can post your corn pics in the "photos" section, other snakes in "general chitchat".

Hey I grew up in metro Detroit. Sounds like you have an awesome collection. Do you breed them?

Hurry up and post pics!

Reptile Jones - I'm about 20 miles NW of Detroit in Oakland county.

Alan - Thanks for the info. I'm still learning to navigate around here, and didn't want to throw a monkey wrench into the well-oiled machinery!

Checkerbelly - Thanks; most of my snakes are younger. I am breeding a couple of my pythons, some ratsnakes, and maybe a pair of corns for the first time this year. Where did you grow up?

Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Just a quick question... where do you mainly go for your supplies?? I used to go to Moby Dicks, but their prices are way too high for pretty much everything... I have now started to get everything from Island Exotics, located at Dixie Hwy and Andersonville, seem to have really good prices on their supplies and the owner who is usually the only one working seems to be pretty knowledgeable on most reptiles!

Hi Rich,

What area are you in?

Amber,

Yes, Moby Dicks is too expensive for the amount of stuff I buy. That store is partially to blame for furthering my snake addiction; my first husband used to own it many years ago. I guess he was an enabler . . .

I'll have to check out Island Exotics. I'm trying to picture where it is on that corner. I have to get my rings cleaned at Waterfall Jewelers, so I'll look for it when I'm over there. I buy most of my stuff on-line, with the exception of my aspen shavings, which I get at Pet Supplies Plus on Dixie Hwy. They special-order the large bags for me, and I usually get 4 at a time.
