Help! Custom viv size dimensions?

Hi!

I have two female yearlings. Both living separately. One is almost 2 feet and the other is a foot long.

I am aware that two corn snake should not be kept together, so I am looking into making a custom viv with an opaque glass divider in the middle which I would place in my dining room unit. The space that I am thinking of placing it in allows for 145cm Long, which means, if divided by two would be 72.5cm Long for each snake. Knowing that a 20gallon is 76cm...do you guys think 72.5cm is such a bad thing? Should I forget about this project completely, or do you think it should suffice? I heard 20 Gallon is minimum but can go up to 40...Is 40 necessary? I know bigger might be better but do you think closer to 20 gallons is enough?

So, following the 20gallon dimensions,
I am thinking 145L x 45D x 35H all together.
Which would mean with the divider, 72.5L x 45D x 35H for each snake

Your help is appreciated. It's a bit urgent!!

Thanks,

Kat

The height and depth are good it's pretty on par with my custom vivs I built. The length is really dependant on your babies. When they're fully grown if they are still highly active I'd recommend going larger for a lifetime tank. I built my viv with balls in mind though so they come in around at 38 gallon tanks a piece which offers plenty of room for my corns to roam and more than ample space for my balls to curl up in. So higher activity snakes more space but if they are chill and don't move much you can go for the smaller size, but always account for the higher end in snake size for your building so in case you get a larger specimen you don't have to rehome to a new viv.

I agree, all of my adult corns will get 55 gallon tanks if they get big enough, I have one guy who is about 5 1/2' long and definitely wouldn't be comfortable in a 20L. I think your dimensions are good for now, you may have to switch it up after a few years though.
