evry1s gotta start sumwere cornfan, if mattys new to this hes hardley likely to know if hes getting ripped off

Absolutely and this is a great place to start but I would recommend that if you're going to ask a question and you get an answer back, not to totally disregard that answer because you'll find not many people willing to offer advise in future. I'm sure that you don't want that and I'm sure that everyone will be willing to help and young and enthusiastic person who is willing to listen to answers even though they may not be what he wants to hear.

Of all the topics discussed on this fab site I think the subject of whether it is good practice to house snakes together causes the most debate. good luck with your new babies mate. Do I house them together? personally- No ... but it's your choice. :)

ps. This topic really should be located in the Husbandary and Care Section.

You know what...it seems to me that you REALLY don't want to learn more. You asked a question, got an answer, then dismissed it because it wasn't what you wanted to hear. It's possible that you may keep your snakes together and never have any obvious problems. In my opinion, it is NOT worth the risk! Ultimately, they are your snakes and you have to decide what to do.

It breaks my heart every time someone decides to go with the cheaper route instead of the best route, though! No one said you had to get rid of one of them...just to separate them!

yo mate if i had to seperate them it would cost me another 250 pound for another viv the same size as this 1 and plus in all the snake books i have read they all say that you can keep to snakes together and i aint tryin to go with the cheapest way cause if i had the money i would get another viv but to tell ya the truth i am totaly skint cause i have just enough money to pay the rent so dont start sayin i dont care for my snakes cause i love my snakes to bits ok !!!!!!!

When we got tiggie on saturday she was housed with a male snow corn and they seemed very happy there.
I am wondering now after reading that they become sexually mature at 1 year old weather they could have mated :eek1:

i saw a pet shop in horwich nr bolton with 5 together, they where all v-helthy!!! ive got a question for you ppl should breeders be aloud to keep snakes in little plastic tubs this seems a little cruel why would anyone do this? it just makes them like battery hens! when i hear of this its sounds more like profit rather than the love of it motivates them and yes i know they live but so do the battery hens its just not a good life is it really ... does this make sense to anyone els?

he does care for his snakes! hes an ace dude :noevil: just needs teaching the ways! as when teaching anyone anything STAY CHILLED :crazy02:

Matt...why don't you do a search on cannibalism. You'll find some gruesome pictures of what can happen when snakes are housed together.

Funny, I don't seem to recall EVER saying that you do not care about your snakes. I simply said you are choosing the cheaper route as opposed to the best route. You would have posted differently, in my opinion, if this wasn't the case. You would have said something like, "Well, money is really tight right now. Since it would be best for me to separate them, then I will work on saving up the money to get another viv." I can see that nothing I've said matters to you, so I'm through with this thread. I refuse to continue trying to convince you when you don't want to be convinced.

One more thing before I go...cornfan is right. If you totally disregard the answers you get here, then people will get tired of trying to help. If you don't want advice, then don't ask for it.

Change that...two more things before I go. I thought you lived with your grandparents. How come you changed it and said you have just enough to pay the rent? Which is it?

Chris...just because a pet store houses them together doesn't mean it's right or safe.

Adrienne,
It is possible if they were a male/female pair. Hopefully everything will be fine with your snake :)

well we know what happend last time people tryed to force there opinions on other peoeple, world war 2! ..... he didn't dismiss what you said he simply added another point of view ok, all be it maybe not one of experience but still where i come from we like to call it a debate ... if he did or didnt take your advice will be his loss or gain, but he was only going off information someone els had given him at least he had the decency to ask for other peoples opinions and i didnt say it was safe to house snakes together nor did i say its not safe .... i was mearly pointing out what i had seen and or heard

if you dont like the fact and take it so personal not everyone will take in what you said, then i sugest you dont post any messages ... i respect your views and experience but your not the b all end all

Actually, it's the snakes loss or gain.

Other then that i'm not touching this topic with a 5ft pole ;)

lol ok the snakes loss or gain,

but the boys only 16yr old theres no need to bully him just because they cant get there point across maybe they should try being a little nicer!

I said I was through here...but I do have something else to say to Chris...not about the original topic either.

Chris, I flat out said that ultimately, it was HIS decision. I never forced my opinion on him. He never even considered what I said.

None of this is personal...or wasn't until he put words into my mouth. The only thing I took personal was that he claimed I said he didn't care about his snakes.

As for comparing this whole thing to WW2, that's just ridiculous.

And I was never mean. I just stated that if he didn't want opinions, then don't ask for them. That's matter of fact...not mean.

So now I am through. I will not reply anymore to this thread because it isn't worth any more of my time.

never considerd what you said! i wouldnt blame him if he didnt! but he did consider mate thats why hes buying a cheap viv off me ...

thnx chris i would like other ppls veiws on this subject and i have to givge rent to my grandparents u dumb person,,, anyways if no1 has noticed that it is not that easy trying to get a corn snake in this contry unlike america cause they aint wild ere so every1 bak off unless i chat to ya msn cause we mates init

Dam chris do you understand snakes at all?????????????????????
Most hatchling snakes when kept in large vivs suffer stress and refuse to eat, sure theres the odd expetion to the rule but in genral they thrive in indervidual enclosures that should grow in size with the snake.

Is it fare to put a hatchling into the viv that will be its home for the rest of its life?

Once again i see your very uneducated!
