I am planing on getting a corn snake and was wondering if an adult corn could harm a chihuahua if it got out of its cage.

My goodness, I would hope not! I have a chihuahua myself, although he is not a toy chihuahua. I do not see corns as being able to swallow a dog no matter how small. Anyone else?

I have a chihuahua also, and although my snake is still young I don't think it would be possible for a corn to hurt my dog but I guess I could be wrong. Now a boa or python would be a no no in this house!

Wow,thanks for replying so fast I don't have a toy chihuahua either and I'm not worried about her being eaten, but I'm worried that an adult might be able to wrap around her neck and strangle her.Corn snakes are constrictors aren't they?

it could strangle her but i don't think it would even bother with the dog.

Now what snakemommy said, could be very true. I sure would not trust a python.....

Actually, I have mostly pythons and they do not react at all to the dogs. My thought is that dog like human is not "normal" type of food for snakes in general. The only behavior I've seen is a lot of tongue flicking & sniffing thats about all. The only aggressive behavior is one of my dogs sniffed the rat snake and the snake turned around and bit me! :shrugs:
Most of the snakes in the yard slither as fast as they can AWAY from the dog if anything dogs are seen as predators not as food, those have been my experiences.

I would say that the bigger concern would be the dog harming the corn. If a rat can kill a corn then any sized dog can also. Sure, a corn could likely choke a dog that small but it is very unlikely that it will happen.

Thanks you've all been very helpful.I wasn't sure wether I should get the corn or not but now I think I wil get one.I am planning on buying a charcoal. Is the size, behavior etc. any different from any other morph?
