Elemental Exotics
Having a really hard time settling on names for the two Trans Pecos ratsnakes we got a bit ago.
We've got a number of naming themes going on, based on some of our favorite TV or book series and had been thinking of naming them in one of those. The first one I'd thought of was based on a book series, the Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan, very good series!
Two of our other newest snakes are named in that theme. I also like to use "pair" names for snakes that are going to be mates eventually. So based on that, their Riyria names would be Gwen for the female, which I'm liking for her a lot. The one for the male would be either Royce or Duster, which I'm a bit unsure of. Like them well enough but just not sure either really fits him.
Then in discussing them with my Mom, she suggested that since they are Trans Pecos, "western" snakes, maybe I should name them after some Louis L'Amour book characters, an author that both my step dad and I like.
That immediately made me think of my favorite female character of his, Echo Sackett. I'm really liking Echo for the female but again not sure about the male names.
Echo's book character love interest is Dorian Chantry, could use either the first or last name for the male.
Or could branch out to other Sacketts in the series for the male, some of which that I like are: Logan, Nolan, Orlando, Milo or Tyrel. Two other L'Amour names I like are Bendigo and Chancy.
And just today, I thought of two other names in the Vorkosagin Series that a lot of the critters are named in, not exactly pair names but close.
Raven for the male and Rowan for the female.
So, which of those name pairs sound best to y'all?
The male.
The female.
