Hello everyone! I found this forum a few days ago. I've been thinking about getting a corn snake quite a bit and decided I should learn as much as I can beforehand. xD It's happening much quicker than I thought. I went by petco today and they were having a sale on aquariums and I thought, 'A Sign!' and bought about half the stuff needed. Still need to get a under the tank heater and thermometers and a hygrometer, but I wasn't sure on reliable brands for the thermometers or the hygrometer. I'll probably be looking around on the forum to see what hatchlings are available...

Howdy Fellow Texan!

Hi Hallix, I'm not far from you here in Cedar Hill ! I use the Zoo-Med Under Tank Heaters. The brand of Thermometer or Hygrometer I have no certain brand I use. You should find lots of info in the other areas of the fourm that will help guide you. You may want to go see Ray at Greens Pet Center in Midilothian, he will help you get your setup right. What size tank did you buy? With small hatchling cornsnakes the type of screen lid on the tank is critical! They are escape artist and can slip thru the smallest cracks!

Have fun! It's an addiction!!!! :grin01:

I'll definately look up Greens Pet Center. I bought a 10 gallon. I figured it would do for now. I'll upgrade when I need to. I made sure to get clips for the lid. I actually just figured out how to put them on. I feel very accomplished. xD It doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. I haven't even gotten my first snake yet, but I already feel the addiction taking hold! Hopefully, it doesn't get too bad because I already have a German Shepherd addiction and it can be quite expensive. I guess this will be good practice for my self-restraint. :)

Hallix, You should go check out the South Mountain Reptiles website! Don S. is one of the best breeders out there and he is in Texas and has a huge slection of Cornsnakes.... and shipping is only $35.00!

Good Luck Trying To Decide On One !:laugh::laugh:

Since you live close to DFW I would wait until there was a reptile show in Fort Worth or Dallas and buy one there. I believe Don from SMR shows up at most of the snake shows that do not have venoms snakes for sale.

Don Shore of Shores Enuff Snakes is right there in Forth Worth.

Thanks Fatman! I'm actually quite annoyed with myself. I missed a show this past weekend apparently. And it was literally only MAYBE 30 minutes from me. xD
