Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone and share some pics (if I can figure out how)

I am a 7th and 8th grade Science teacher and decided I wanted a snake as our classroom pet. I helped raise a BP many years ago and always wanted a snake but my husband is not a big fan of an reptiles as pets. Fortunately, I found a loophole! Since the snake will only be at our home for summers and long holidays, I get to have one.

I prepared for getting a BP since that's what I was familiar with and went to the local pet stores to get one. All of the local breeders only feed live and I didn't want to deal with that or switching one to F/T. Well, all of the BP at the pet stores were really nippy, so I decided to ask for a recommendation on something similar to care for. The guy at Petco sold me a RTB telling me is was really no different from a BP except that it would get a foot longer. When I got home with the sweet guy I started calling around to do some research and realized that this guy was going to get way bigger than I was prepared to handle or wanted to deal with. Several of the people I talked to recommended Corn Snakes, so I returned the RTB and came home with a cute corn snake.

I usually like to do all my research before getting a pet but it just didn't work out that way and now I'm figuring it all out as I go. This forum has been great about answering my questions and I plan on sticking around here a long time. Thanks everyone!

Now here's so pics:

That was my first time feeding him. Hopefully we get it right the next time but he didn't seem to have any problems thankfully!

hello and welcome! :)
this is probably the most helpful forum I have ever came across!
you'll love it here!

and your new little boy looks just like my baby did when I first got him!
he looks like a classic or wild type corn snake, if he is then just wait until his reds and oranges start to show up! :D their pretty amazing to watch change.

again welcome

Really pretty Snake, look's just like mine. This forum is proving to be invaluable but it does not help when people post pictures of their Snakes and make you want to buy them all! :)
