Hiding Box to Substrate?

Snakes like to feel that they are fully hid and prefer tighter spots where something is touching their backs for security. being in substrate allows them to feel fully enclosed and covered. If you want to try and alter this behavior you could try making your hides a bit smaller and introducing him to them.
 
I noticed the sam ething in Red-Eye but now he uses both hides the substrate and just recently has started to go under his water dish and hide there for days at a time, there is ample aspen under the waterdish soi know he wont be crushed, but is this something that anyone has seen before? Another thing I noticed is that he does not like to have substrate in his hides, could they be too small or is this normal? :shrugs:
