Hiya, new to snakes

Hello everyone,
I'm somewhat new to snakes, Oliver here is my first. well, that's not entirely true, when I was 9 I had a rough green snake for about a week... it got out...
but now I'm 20 and thought I'd try again. Corn snakes sounded like a good first snake, so there we go. I've had him for a few days now, and I thought today might be a good time to give him his first feeding with me. and apparently I was right. he took it with almost no provocation, all I did was bump it a little with a chopstick, and he bit. a good thing too, since I've heard there can be problems with them not wanting to eat.

Oliver is an '07 baby, purchased from a local breeder by the name of Hawkeye Herps, whom I couldn't be more satisfied with.

Good choice for your "first". Corn snakes are awesome and you are blessed with a good eater! He has great coloring! Are his saddled brown or black? It's hard to tell from the pictures...

Hi Sktchy and welcome fo the forum!

I feel I must warn you that corn snakes can become an addiction!!! LOL

Best wishes,

Hi and welcome to the forums! What a nice looking snake you have there! I'm sure many more will come!

Congratulations on a fantastic-looking first snake! I recently got into herpetoculture myself, after 13 years of trying (my mother's incredibly stubborn lol). I now own a 6/7 month old Amelanistic Corn named Salazar, and by next Tuesday I will own a female Royal Python. :)

well all, I must say I feel well welcomed!
I don't think I've ever been on such an active forum.
nlove_3000- Oliver has brown saddles.
susiela- I'm well aware of the addictive properties of the common reptile, I've kept frogs for years, and I have spent more on them than I care to mention...

question-> Will he get more orange as he ages, or will he keep the gray background color?

once again thanks for the warm welcome.

Hello and welcome! :wavey:
To answer your question about the color, yes it will get darker. Oliver looks like a normal to me, and those get more color as they age. Go to the picture gallery and look for pics of adult normals, you'll see what I'm talking about. ;)
