Lucille, I lurves the eggnog.

But like frankincense and myrrh, I have never seen a use for nutmeg (or cloves, for that matter) except to embalm/spice a cadaver.

1 pint heavy cream
2 eggs, separated
3/4 cup sugar
nutmeg
bourbon

Whip the heavy cream until peaks form
In another bowl, beat egg whites until dry
In another bowl, beat yolks and sugar

With mixer on medium, mix yolks and sugar into the whipped cream, then beat in egg whites. Add about 3 shots of bourbon and quickly mix them in.

This will be very thick, creamy and delicious. Spoon into crystal dessert glasses, sprinkle with nutmeg, and serve.

Why th..th th..thank you dear!! hehe

Sweet Potato Rolls

3 3/4 Cups All purpose flour
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 Cup milk
1/4 Cup Butter
3/4 Cup Sweet Potato cooked and mashed
1 egg

1. In large bowl combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, and yeast, blend well

2. In small saucepan heat milk and butter (120-130 degrees F)

3. Add warm liquid, sweet potato, egg and flour mixture. Blend at low speed until moist, then beat 2 minutes as medium speed

4. Add in reaming flour to form a soft/sticky dough ( I do this in my stand mixer but if you are using hand beaters you will want to mix with a very sturdy spoon)

5. On well floured surface knead dough until smooth about 2 minutes (note it will still probably be somewhat sticky). Place dough in greased bowl turn dough so that all sides are greased, then cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place (80-85 degrees, I often put it on the dryer if it is cold but you can put a bowl of hot water in the bottom rack of the oven and put the bowl on a higher rack....just don't turn the oven on by mistake b/c my own experience can tell you that towel can catch fire) about 45-55 minutes

6. Grease cookie sheets or roll pans, punch dough down to remove air bubbles, toss lightly with flour and divide into rolls approx 18

7. Cover let rise again for approx 30-40 minutes

Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes, remove from cookie sheet and brush with melted butter if desired

They are really good. Hope ya'll like them.

I don't care for turkey or ham usually, but my aunt makes this awesome "volcano" turkey that's nice and spicy.

I like egg nog sometimes. It's kind of hit or miss for me, I guess.

Cranberry sauce...every year I try it thinking maybe this year I'll like it, and every year I cut a dainty little wedge out of my cranberry slice, eat it, and then tell myself that next year I just won't bother.

I LOVE yams. My mom makes the best yams ever, pureed with all sorts of deliciousness. I am also a (real) mashed potato fiend. Mmm, carbs.

I don't think I've ever had fruit cake. I kinda feel like I'm missing out!

In my family we're big on Christmas sweets. Holly cookies, sugar cookies, fudge, russian tea cakes, mocha morsels, spritz cookie trees...delicious. We always make way more than necessary and end up with lots of yummy treats in the freezer for the next month. The only thing I don't like are pizelles.

We usually eat lobster on Christmas eve. I can't complain about that. :D

I can't stand pumpkin pie or mince meat. My dad remembers when it really was a meat pie (his dad was a butcher).

Turkey is ok once every few years. I do like the Jennie-O pressed turkey meat in its own pan with gravy. That's juicy and yummy.

Green bean casserole is da bomb.

Hate yams with marshmallows, but mashed taters make my mouth water.

Honey glazed ham, oh yeah. Or the spiral cut hams, oh yeah, too.

Stollen is THE dessert of the Gods, if you're German. I pig out on it every year. Have it with coffee, tea or hot cocoa, because its dry.

Real eggnog rawks!

Can't get enough of caramel vanilla chai lattes. Its my new cold winter drink.

We have a solstice party usually every year or other year, and serve good filling German food. Its wurst, schnitzel, sauteed garlic mushrooms and all that delicious stuff.
