Hi guys... I'm looking to buy an incubator - which one of the 2 does anyone have some experience with? Also, anyone know how many eggs one can roughly fit into each one? Any advice/comments will be highly appreciated! Thanks!!
I had a hova bator, it is small and will only hold a clutch or two. Also the thermostats are tricky at times. I don't think the Reptibator holds many clutches either, but i have not used one personally.
It is extremely easy to build one, all you basically need is a box, I have a snapple refridge i use and heat with two zoo med uth heaters that I plug into a helix thermostat. it works great and can hold about 40 or so clutches.
I realize you may not need anything this large, but any insulated box, such as a cooler box, ect will work. Just be sure a use a Helix or other reputable thermostat.
I paid $100 for the fridge, $50.00 for two zoo-med heat pads, and $125.00 for the helix db-1000 thermostat.
Oh, btw... my incubator is now full of clutches.. those in the pic were the first of the season
also, here is another pic of a smaller incubator home mede years ago.. still works like a champ.. many Ball-Pythons started life there lol!
