After you stop laughing, it gets down right scary!

...you realize that's not a real audition video, yes? :)

Actually, Connie and I have been viewing a bunch of those auditions, and quite honestly, it COULD be real, based on a lot of the other contestants. :roflmao:

Now that you mention it, yeah, the video of the panel in the below strip is exactly the one used in the original post. But still......

And honestly, that guy Simon Cowell just cracks me up.

They let these ones through on purpose.

I had a classmate try out for american idol. They first put you into a group of about 25 people and have each one of you sing for about 10 seconds, make selections and send them on through the rounds until they narrow it down. I'm pretty sure the bad ones mostly know they are really bad and are there for the humor factor. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them were 'planted' and told to sing as terribly off key as they could.

Yeah, unless a lot of those people are completely and totally tone deaf, and everyone that has ever listened to them are as well, they HAVE to know that singing just isn't the reason they were put onto this earth.

Some were close enough to possibly think that they had a shot, but many were so far off key that they might have just as well be singing in random keys with every other note.

But yeah, you would think that there would be one or more filters for those people to pass through before ever getting in front of the judges. Otherwise the judges would be wasting their time with not only completely talentless people, but also those just out for cheap thrills by making complete fools of themselves on purpose.

But I guess some people want their 15 minutes of fame, no matter how they go about getting it.

i tried out for american idol a few years ago, knowing full well that i couldn't sing to save my life. there were some amazingly ridiculous people there. my main reason for going was to bitch slap ryan seacrest, but i couldn't get close enough to the little bugger. me and a buddy were interviewed by david cooks brother and sang for a radio station in kansas city.
