how long without food?

Parseltongue was last fed on the 10th o this month. She is about to shed and as it is only my second shed, with my first snake, I don't want to risk a regurge as I have no idea what to do. She still hasnt shed yet, how long will she be ok for without food? She is just on one pinky a week at the moment.
Thanks, I'm starting to worry!

They can go weeks without food. I think it is safer to wait until after Parseltongue sheda than to risk a regurge.

As Rich has mentioned, They can go a long time without eating. I had a male go on a hunger strike for a month, eat one big meal, then go 2 months more on his hunger strike. So even if the snake takes 2 weeks to shed, he/she should be fine.

What I like to do is take a calander and mark the days he ate, sheds ect... By doing this you keep good records and when looking at the calander you can see how long it has truely been. I know I sometimes forget from week to week. Thank goodness for good record keeping.

I do the same thing with my snakes...only I use index cards. I different colored one for each snake. And I keep good records on all of them. Like-when they turn blue, when they turn clear, and then when they actually shed their skin and I write down the day and month and year of when they do it. I also keep track of everything else as well on those index cards...feeding, pooping, cleaning water bowls-giving clean water, changing bedding-or cleaning vivs. It gives me a piece of mind doing it because then if one of them starts acting different or stops eating for a good amount of time then I know the last time I have fed it and know that a certain amount of time without eating is okay.

Like I posted in one of the posts in this thread I always go ahead and feed my snakes -just not my adult corn snake during their shedding cycle because mine have never given me any trouble over doing so. They haven't ever regurged just because I fed them while in shed process. If you more safe waiting until it is done shedding to feed him/her then thats what I would do. Your corn snake should be fine if you wait. Good luck!

Sorry, it was in another thread that I posted the second part of my response in before but I think it was still one of the threads you wrote.

iherp.com is a good resource for keeping track of feeding/shedding/weight/anything else you can think of without having a bunch of paper floating around. :)
