How many females per male?

How many females can one male corn mate with in a year? Guess I am asking if there is a point where he loses interest or his sperm count gets too low.

Seeing as corn is pollinated by the wind, a "male" corn can mate with many, possibly hundreds of "female" corns.

On a side note: Male corn snakes, can typically service 4-6 females. Possibly more if he is given sufficient time to rest between "jobs." He should do the deed with just about any female that is willing and presented to him (not unlike the typical male college student, myself being atypical.) Just as long as he is getting enough rest time and is eating he could hypothetically go on forever.

LOL. I knew the funny posts were coming. No way to avoid it with this subject. :crazy02: I appreciate the applicable info there and will give ya some rep for it :) .
 
Presumably sperm count would drop with excessive mating to the point where you get low or no fertilization. I'm not going to pair my male with more than two females.

:-offtopic i can't give you any snake fertility info (and am not discussing my pre-wed resume) but just wanted to mention how funny "mike171" 's comments were. :crazy02: must be something brought on by the texas heat. :shrugs:
 
I bred my male Taurus to 3 females this year and had excellent results.

Each female was bred between 3 - 4 times. Taurus had a good feeding response the entire breeding season & kept excellent weight. (his brother Tau which I did not breed, refused food for a good part of the breeding season)
 
According to Kathy Love's book(s), 6 is the magic number (along with 3 days rest between mating sessions) before a noticeable drop in fertility. Obviously this is probably a general set of numbers, and is going to be different for snakes based on age, health, etc. This is the system I have generally followed.

PS. That could be 6 pairings with one female or 2 pairings each with 3 females, or 1 pairing with 6 separate females, etc.
