How Was Your Day?

I dig this thread. It's cool to get a chance to see into people's lives instead of only talking about snakes with them.

As for how I'm feeling, I'm exhausted and sore. I thought I had the flu but it turned out to be more serious than that and I ended up in the hospital. So now I'm a little nervous about a possible surgery in my near future.

Oh and I also no longer like Kathy Love. One of my friends bought me her book to read while I was in the hospital and there were so many pictures of beautiful morphs that I just know I'm going to break my rule and buy more corn snakes. :(
*shakes fist at Kathy*...great book though!

So...uh...are you ok SnakeNBake?

I had a horrible evening on Monday. My favorite Green tree python prolapsed and I had to rush her up to the emergency vet. They had to put stiches into each side of the cloaca to keep the prolapse in and I'm soaking her each day and have some wormer to give her. She tested negative for parasites but we're going to do it just in case. I didn't get home until 1:30 in the morning and I had to get up at 5 for work the next day. I was exhausted! She seems to be doing alright though and I hope she continues to improve. The real test will be once we remove the stiches in a few weeks. I'm hoping she won't prolapse again. Keep your fingers crossed!! I was blubbering like an idiot all the way to the vets telling her not to die. It was horrible. She was so good for them too. Never bit, never did anything. I got to watch the suturing and held her head while the techs supported her body. She was perfect! The vet and the techs absolutely love her and the one tech didn't want to give her back. I hope she recovers completely. She's my absolute favorite snake in my collection.

There are days when I feel like I have been the only one in the world who works so hard that I turn into a couch potato at the end of the work day; but, guess what - :crazy02: - we all get that way no matter what we do.

We wake up; grab, gobble and go to work; put up with hypocondreacts and whines and that's the co-workers (I'm in disability); weave your way through the office gossips and stuck-ups; try not to tell the claimants to get off their lazy arses and go to work and stop expecting a hand out from the government; try not to be to upset when you can't find a file that supposed to be in the file cabinet knowing that three days later it will mysteriously appear; shuffle your way home.

As you walk up the steps and put your key in the door you see the front shade move and there is Lady, good old chuncky-butt, being the first to greet you; husband comes walking in the living room smelling good enough to toss him into bed and as you look around the room there is Smokey still doing his laps, Konig all bright and shiny due to a perfect shed and baby, Gaia, poking her head out of her hide AND GUESS WHAT- - - the whole day disappears and you realize that your life is good and can only get better.

Hope I haven't bored you all; but, that is sort of my day - every day but weekends.

Still in a lot of pain but at least now they have a diagnosis...my gallbladder is going to be evicted. I'll take that over what they originally thought the problem was.

Thanks for asking.

Meg I'm sorry to hear about your snake. I hope she gets well soon. It's horrible to watch helpless animals suffer. :(

Well lets see, today I didn't get to sleep until 3pm because of work last night and class this morning. I swear the only thing keeping me going today was knowing how good it was going to feel to crawl into bed after class. I slept for the rest of the day until my bf came home and told me that he got a 20L for another corn :). He had gone with his mother to take her two ball pythons and Dumril's boa to the vet because of mites and one of the balls not eating. He told me that the vet told his mother that it was ok to Cohabitate the ball pythons (I have been telling her to separate them) and to start force feeding (its been less than a month) so I am kind of wondering about this vet, and its not like she is going to take my word over the vets so I might as well give up.
Now I am back at work and watching the clock slowly get closer 7am. Thank you CS.com for helping me kill time ;)

Meg I'm sorry to hear about your snake. Like everyone else I hope she does fine. SNB, my thoughts are with you with your upcoming surgery. If it helps at all I had a friend go thru that surgery and was back to work in 3 weeks, with only 3 little holes in her stomach from the surgery and nothing else. Good luck!

My nite at work was horrible. My fabric cutting partner annoys the hell outta me sometimes and tonite was one of those nite. I'm SO glad we got out early because we got our work out. I don't think I could have handled much more this week with her. YAY for the weekend!

Thanks everyone. So far so good. SNB, I've done a lot of gallbladders at the hospital and you should be feeling much better pretty quickly. Good luck with your surgery and feel better soon!

I'll keep you in my prayers SNB. I have a 14" scar from when they took my gall bladder (done in 1976), now I think they do a little cut and do everything through a scope. Just keep good spirits (not liquid) and everything will be A-OK.

Meg, what causes a prolapse? Hope she gets better with no complications.

Meg...I'm really routing for your snake to pull thorough!!
SNB...I got my gall bladder out a few years ago, the pain before hand is almost intollerable. The surgery isn't to bad, you just have to take it easy for a while after. No heavy lifting for 6 weeks. I only have 3 little scars, and you can hardly even see them now. I'm sure you'll do just fine, think of it as a mini vacation, you'll get to put your feet up for a while and have people wait on you hand and foot! :grin01: Good luck to both of you...keep us posted

I spent the afternoon assisting with the consequences of a suspect parcel containing unidentified white powder. Building evacuated, army chemical/ biological warfare experts called in - the full nine yards.

Will probably turn out to be a box of Turkish Delight someone sent back from their holidays, but it's caused major upheaval and given a few hundred people (including me) a real fright.

I'm exhausted & glad to be home, but still waiting for the phone to ring.

It's a strange world we live in these days. Thanks goodness for Corn Snakes!

[Thinking of all about to have ops - good luck, people.]

Yea somewere in the general chat part of this forum there should be a thread named "James Says Hello to Everyone" or something along them lines :p : )

George.

Yesterday went to my sister's allotment and found a temporary pool on some tarpaulins was full of newly hatched tadpoles. The pool won't last long so spent a happy couple of hours catching tadpoles and then took them to my sister's garden pond. No fish in the pond so the tadpoles should have a good chance to survive there. :)

Right now my husband put in a two tier pond and I'm making little nooks and crannies hoping some frogs and lizards will take up residence. We didn't have anoles around the house until last year when my husband brought some back from a job he was on. Now we count at least 6 of various sizes. :crazy02:
