Hummingbirds ...

Elemental Exotics
I was going through some pictures and came across this series my husband took this summer of the hummers at our feeder in front of the front room window and I thought I'd share them. He used a tripod and a remote, unfortunately with the roof of the deck, it was a little too dark for really good pictures.

Very cool. We get them also. A pair lives in the neighbor's lemon tree right on our fence-line. I love watching them.

Pretty! Also I adore your hummingbird feeder!

Thanks! Took forever to find one that I really liked, ended up getting this one online. It did well last summer, so I will probably get at least two more this summer for the deck.

I do the same thing to get pictures of them. Tripod and remote. I turn up my shutter speed to stop the wings....you'll have to bring your ISO up though to compensate. Usually if I wait for the sun to hit the porch more it's easier. A 400 ISO works fine when it's sunny....have to go up to 800 or higher if it's not...They are fun to shoot...

I have hummingbirds in the summer. I haven't tried to photograph them, though! Those are nice pics.

Most hummers migrate south to South America in the winter. When I was in Costa Rica there were loads ....all the same species as here....I'm sure in some parts of Florida they would stay year round as it's warm enough...

Here in Southern California and Arizona we have Anna's Hummingbirds year round. I have two feeders up and I love watching what I call the "Hummingbird Wars" over my morning cup of hot tea.

Yeah, ours had pretty much all gone by late August.
I keep meaning to go to this Hummingbird Roundup, it's still pretty close to where we live now and I used to live only a few miles away but haven't managed to get out there yet.
