Hundreds of Dead Snakes

I saw that. Sounds like the man had some mental break about a year ago. How long does it take to starve a snake to death?
You know he had to have smelled, his students and peers had to notice.

I have a thread on here with a Fundraiser to help the remaining living snakes. It's so saddening.

I saw that earlier, so sad. I won't even try to understand what caused him to neglect them, I'll never be able to get it.

Horrible, those poor snakes.

And as seen in the comments, it's just another talking point for people to say "shouldn't own snakes".

Quote: "This is a really big problem in the U.S. A review of whether to continue to allow people to keep these snakes in homes, needs to be conducted."

What if this was a cat hoarder who didn't take care of their cats? I wonder if this person would make the same statement, insisting there be a review done as to whether cats should be kept in homes. People are idiots.

That is ridiculous. Just like you said, we hear about cat and dog hoarders all the time, heck even horse hoarders, but no one freaks out that people shouldn't have them. It's because snakes aren't the "warm fuzzies".

I agree people won't view it the same as a cat hoarder and it will only reflect poorly on our hobby. They are looking for every little thing to stick us with.

For me....I don't share these links. The less it circulates on things like fb the better and I followed the motto of a fellow herper: for every negative snake story posted....post one positive one! We need to sensationalize the positive more than the negative :)

I think the link to the Go Fund Me campaign is important to share. If every herper is touched by the story and donates even $5, it will help immensely.

This guy had a breakdown and went into a shell after his Mom died last yr.
He wasnt taking care of anything, including himself..
2 rescues were allowed to pick up the survivors and are looking for
help to cover their costs..
It is truly a shame, it never looks good for the hobby when
stuff like this happens.
The news agencies here are having a field day with it..
