"Hybrid" Kingsnakes x Cornsnakes

Zulu3

bad luck charm
Has anyone heard of the hybrids they are making now crosses between corns and kings? I saw a really handsome one at my local pet store and althogh I don't want to buy him, he just got me thinking. Does anyone have any experience with these snakes? My gut would tell me that these genetically manipulated species may not be as healthy as well.. non-hybrids? I dunno just has been on my mind and wondered if anyone had any exoerience with the little guys. Here is a site with some gorgeous pictures of the hybrids.. i think it is a forum so I dont know if itll show but anyway worth a shot.

Any thoughts or feelings welcome, just thought I'd bring it up.
Zuloo =)

Jungle corns have been around for quite some time. There are dozens of different cornsnake hybrids, crossed with different rat snakes, kingsnakes and bull/pine/gopher snakes. They are typically robust, called hybrid vigor, and fertile. Many people have issues with hybrids for multiple reasons, but I love them and have several of different types.

Yeah the baby I saw was gorgeous, he almost looked like a milk snake in corn form. I had no idea they had been around so long. Do you have any pics of yours?

oh wow youve got some gorgeous ones on your hands. I love how shiny they are. It is interesting that they aren't sterile either. Do you breed them with other hybrids or what?

Yeah I dunno I just wanted to get a thread going about people's experience with them. I was curious =)

I kept Amel Jungles a few years ago but let them go because I needed to downsize. One of them is pictured here. I'd like to eventually pick up another trio of Jungles once I've got more room. :)

Bible says you go to Hell if you make Jungle corns.

I personally have no problem with hybrids along as they are done responsibly. Infact a few morphs are actually hybrid in orgin, such as the creamsicle and the frosted corn. Rumors also are that the ultra gene came from the grey rat snake.

This is my 08 Female Jungle Zephora.

Hallelujah and pass the gasoline!

Except Creamsicle is not a Corn Snake morph, it's a hybrid. Anyone selling a Creamsicle as a Corn morph would be misrepresenting it.

Rumors also are that the ultra gene came from the grey rat snake.
According to this year's Corn Snake Morph Guide, breeding tests are gradually supporting the conclusion that White Oak Phase Grey Rats (beleive these are the ones at the root of the discussion?) don't carry ultra. So although rumours have been rife for years, actual proof seems to be edging the other way now.

Haha you dont like the hy.. (?)breeding rojo? =)

I am not a fan of hybrids, but to each his own. The bible verse was a joke from the religion thread. In Leviticus it says you will go to Hell for breeding hybrid animals. I can't stop laughing about that.

I guess mules should have been around back then. And if you've ever been around one, you'd understand why the author of Leviticus decided to throw that one in!

Well theres a few more out there that should be suspect IMHO... You would think if that the ultracorns would have held onto thier jumbo existance with that grey rat intro.. Of course, I have yet to find conclusive evidence that most of our captive kept corns don't have some sort of hybrid influences eithier.. Emoryi is in the corn gene pool much deeper than most would want to admit..

I will take it though that your reference of ultra was your sense of protection to create jungles.. *shrugs*
